Happy Easter! Welcome to your bumper look back at all the new releases over the past seven days, plus some top picks which take from those new movies and series, plus a selection of Easter choices for you to dive into. As always, we’ll also look at what’s been trending in the Netflix US top 10s over the past week too.
A quick note on the WWE, too. Sadly, the United States Netflix is not hosting WrestleMania this weekend, despite having access to the 4-episode docu-series leading up to the event: Road to WrestleMania. Sadly, those rights still remain with Peacock, but for everyone else, refer to our time guide for when to watch.

New on Netflix this weekend is the SVOD debut of the latest Sony Pictures Classics movie, headlined by Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore, along with performances from John Turturro and Alessandro Nivola. It picked up a slew of great reviews upon its initial release over Christmas last year with particular praise landing at the door of the two leads.

Reviews for ‘Ransom Canyon’ Are In – Should You Watch Netflix’s New Western Romance Series?
The official synopsis for the movie is as follows:
“Ingrid and Martha were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.”
Ransom Canyon (Season 1)
Number of episodes: 10
Rating: TV-MA
Language: English
Genre: Drama, Romance
Cast: Minka Kelly, Josh Duhamel, Lizzy Greene, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Garrett Wareing, Andrew Liner
Writer: April Blair
Hoping to buck the recent trend of underperforming Netflix Original English series from the US is Ransom Canyon, a new series based on the excellent Jodi Thomas novels of the same name. It fuses a mix of Yellowstone with Netflix romance favorites like Virgin River for a new Texas-based series that tells the story of several ranch owners with interconnected lives. It’s soapy, full of drama, and has just enough to appeal to the Yellowstone crowd, in my opinion.
Critics have been pretty mixed on the new series, but from what we’re seeing in the early top 10 results, it looks like it’s a hit with audiences so far. We’ll have to await official numbers from Netflix on Tuesday to see what its chances are for a season 2, but early signals look pretty good.
