That’s another week in the books! Welcome to your Friday rundown of everything new on Netflix this week and our picks of what you should be watching this weekend. In addition, we’ll walk you through the movies and series that have been picking up the most points in the Netflix daily top 10s.
This weekend has a few new titles to look forward to in addition to those listed below. The 2002 Angelina Jolie romance comedy Life or Something Like It from 20th Century Fox will debut this Sunday, while K-drama fans have been chomping at the bit to return to the world of Hospital Playlist, and they can do so in a new spin-off titled Resident Playbook from Saturday. Lots still to look forward to throughout the remainder of April 2025. We just learned of a few new titles that have been lined up for the remainder of the month and will be including them in our complete guide shortly.
What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend
Black Mirror (Season 7)
Number of episodes: 6
Rating: TV-MA
Language: English
Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery
Writer: Charlie Brooker
No surprise for my absolute top pick of the week being Black Mirror. You’re probably all familiar with this award-winning documentary series by now, with each episode opening up with a new cast and premise that explores sci-fi and horror. This season has a good mix of episodes with two follow-ups. We gave the entire series a 5 out of 5 rating, saying that some of the episodes in this season match some of the best in the series’ history.
Of course, one of the best things about Black Mirror is that if you’re not particularly feeling a particular episode, you can just jump to another one. It’s already interesting reading everyone’s rankings, for the record, this is mine for season 7:
- USS Callister: Into Infinity
- Eulogy
- Common People
- Hotel Reverie
- Beta Noire
- Plaything (the game is great, but alas, I didn’t dig the episode)
Kill Tony: Kill or Be Killed (2025)
Rating: TV-MA
Language: English
Genre: Stand-up, Comedy
Cast: Tony Hinchcliffe, Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, Shane Gillis, Kyle Dunnigan, Jeff Ross
Picture: Netflix
Another YouTube show jumped to Netflix this week with Tony Hinchcliffe’s excellent stand-up comedy show Kill Tony hitting the streamer, which is one of three that’ll be coming in due course. The format is simple: he invites some of his buddies to sit alongside him to listen to new material from aspiring comedians.
Suppose you’ve never watched Kill Tony before. In that case, this episode is actually one of the best starting places, given that it features a pretty recognizable roster of side characters, with most being in character. Kyle Dunnigan puts in another incredible performance playing Elon Musk, while Shane Gillis once again kills as Donald Trump, and Adam Ray returns as former US President Joe Biden.
The addition to Netflix has been controversial in some corners, and I’ll be the first to admit my politics don’t align with all present, but that’s life, and I still got some pretty great belly laughs from this episode.
The Hating Game (2021)
Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Romance
Director: Peter Hutchings
Writer: Christina Mengert, Sally Thorne
Runtime: 102 min / 1h 42m
If you saw The Life List and are looking for your next watch, the R-rated romantic comedy The Hating Game may be for you. Headlined by Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell. It’s based on the best-selling book of the same name that follows an ambitious woman who goes to war with one of her work colleagues’ rivals but ends up developing an attraction for him. It’s an incredibly fun movie buoyed by the two leads’ performances with some pretty funny set pieces.
