In mid-2023, the unthinkable happened: HBO came to Netflix. Since then, many shows from the premium cable channel’s back catalog have landed on Netflix in dozens of regions worldwide. Want to know every HBO show that’s arrived so far and how long they’ll stay on Netflix for? We’ve got you covered.
With the notable exception of a stint in the mid-2010s when HBO licensed some of its older titles to Prime Video, HBO content has been locked to HBO. In mid-2023, news revealed that several high-profile back-catalog HBO shows would make their way onto Netflix as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s engagement again in licensing. Please note that given the regional nature of licensing, this article may have sections that apply to you and others that don’t. We’ll do our best to include accurate region availability with the help of Unogs.
If you want to view all of Netflix’s HBO offerings where you live, you can use the category/collection code: 100407.
This list will be updated over time to reflect new dates, new titles, and regional updates. Removal dates are subject to change if new deals are struck between Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery.

One of two Steven Spielberg-produced war epics scheduled to arrive on Netflix in the US (other regions TBD, if at all) is the critically acclaimed Band of Brothers, which scooped six Primetime Emmys.

The second war mini-series confirmed to be coming to Netflix is the superior (don’t @ me) The Pacific, following the U.S. Marine Corps squad navigating the Pacific Theatre against the Japanese Empire during World War II. It comes from the same team behind Band of Brothers and is equally gripping. The star-studded cast includes actors James Badge Dale, Joseph Mazzello, Jon Seda, Rami Malek, and Jon Bernthal.

The oldest show coming to Netflix from HBO’s arsenal is Six Feet Under, first premiering in 2001 when Netflix only shipped DVDs. The show’s huge cast included Peter Krause, Michael C. Confirmed for release in international territories (its US availability currently resides with Hulu alongside Max), it is the fantasy horror series created by Alan Ball and based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries. The plot revolves around a telepathic waitress who encounters a strange new supernatural world when she meets the southern Louisiana vampire, Bill Compton. The show had a ridiculous cast, with some of the biggest names appearing, including Ana Paquin, Alexander Skarsgård, Luke Grimes, Dane DeHaan, Lizzy Caplan, and dozens more.

An HBO icon in the late 90s and throughout the 2000s, Sex and the City made its big debut on Netflix in April 2024, while the spin-off series was airing on HBO itself. Darren Star is behind the beloved adaptation, and the series Emily in Paris is currently in Netflix’s wheelhouse. The ensemble cast featured Chris Noth, Cynthia Nixon, David Eigenberg, John Corbett, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Kyle MacLachlan, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Willie Garson, among others, with the premise of the show surrounding around four best friends, all single and in their late thirties, pursuing their careers and talking about their sex lives.
For some reason, Netflix got the license for two years plus an extra few months, and it is scheduled to depart in the summer of 2026, at least in the United States.

Since 2019, Netflix internationally has been the streaming home to Titans, which turned into a Max Original midway through its run after starting out on the now-defunct service, DC Universe. The show is labeled on Netflix as an Original series, with all four seasons now streaming in full.
The series revolves around Batman’s former partner Dick Grayson who assists several troubled young heroes in desperate need of a mentor.

The martial arts crime drama series that originally started on Cinemax before moving to Max for its third and what turns out now its final season will be joining the Netflix US catalog in mid-February 2024. Starring Andrew Koji and Olivia Cheng, the series follows the Tong War in San Francisco’s Chinatown in the 19th Century.
Producers hoped Netflix would step in and save the show, although some time after the series was announced in late 2024, those hopes were dashed, and a fourth season was ruled out.

Season 1 of the highly rated comedy-drama Max Original series Hacks dropped onto Netflix in early 2024 in a few territories, such as Germany and Italy, with more rolling out over time. Starring Jean Smart, the show is about a comedian nearing the end of her career as a comic in Las Vegas who gets a new lease of life after starting to work with a 25-year-old comedy writer who is down on her luck.
Scavengers Reign (Season 1)
Added to Netflix: May 31st, 2024
Region Availability: United States and the United Kingdom only
US Removal Date: May 31st, 2026
Picture: HBO Max
One of HBO Max’s best and most innovative series in its original library was Scavengers Reign, a trippy sci-fi series about the survivors of a spaceship on an alien planet with many secrets.
Similar to Warrior, there had been hopes that should the series perform well on Netflix, the streamer would ultimately revive the show for its long-planned second season. That was eventually ruled out late into 2024.
To conclude this article, there are a few titles that don’t quite fit in the above sections because they’ve been removed from Netflix, are co-productions, or otherwise bends the rules of the sections above:
- Close Enough – This animated sitcom from Max was a Netflix Original in international territories but was slowly pulled from the streamer around the world.
- Dead Boys Detectives was previously in development to release as a Max Original before Netflix stepped in and took over distribution for the project.
- Sinbad: Afrods and Bellbottoms, an HBO stand-up special, is streaming on Netflix in the US.
- The Defiant Ones, an HBO documentary series that looks back at Dr. Dre’s and Jimmy Iovine’s careers, was previously available on Netflix in all regions but has since been removed.
- It’s a Sin, a Max Original in the US, first aired on Channel 4 and was licensed to Netflix UK in May 2023.
- Sort Of, a Max and CBC co-production created by Bilal Baig and Fab Filippo, is available on Netflix in three regions: Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore.
- Max picked up Harley Quinn for its third and fourth seasons. The first two seasons are also streaming on Netflix in Canada.
