New Valentine’s Day Movies and Series for 2024
So, what’s new and coming soon to Netflix that fits the romance genre? Let’s dive in, starting with the global Netflix Original movies and series. Don’t forget that on the unscripted side, Netflix has added Love is Blind season 6, Love is Blind: Sweden and a new season of Love on the Spectrum so far this year.
Good Grief (2024)
Added to Netflix: January 5th, 2024
The first major movie of Netflix’s 2024 was a new romance movie that even got a select theatrical release, too. It was written, directed, and starred Dan Levy, about a man who is trying to get his life back together with a trip to Paris after his husband passes away.
Sadly, the movie failed to chart at all in the Netflix top 10s, making it sadly a bit of a flop, but critics definitely think you should be checking out this out, and there’s no better time.
Captivating the King (Season 1)
Added to Netflix: January 21st, 2024
Netflix has some excellent K-drama romance series in its roster, and joining that growing library in January 2024 was Captivating the King, which consists of 10 episodes thus far, with new episodes arriving every Saturday, so there’s a lot more to look forward to.
Per Netflix, here’s what you can expect from the limited series:
“Amid a royal and political power struggle, a king entangles with an intriguing woman — whose hidden desire for revenge transforms into unintended love.”
One Day (Limited Series)
Added to Netflix: February 8th, 2024
Undoubtedly, the biggest new title for Valentine’s Day is this new British series headlined by Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall, who play Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew (Em and Dex for short), respectively.
Spanning decades, the story begins in the late 1980s, when the pair speak for the first time and soon head their own separate ways, vowing to meet up every year thereafter to catch up and see what life throws at them.
The series is getting rave reviews thus far, with The Daily Beat concluding, “If the pair’s aching, simmering chemistry doesn’t reduce you to a puddle of tears, rest assured that the wrenching story certainly will.”
Players (2024)
Added to Netflix: February 14th, 2024
Gina Rodriguez returns for another Netflix Original movie, headlining this new ensemble rom-com where she stars alongside Tom Ellis, Liza Koshy, and Damon Wayans Jr.
Per Netflix, here’s the official logline for the movie:
“A New York sports writer with a playbook of clever hookup schemes unexpectedly falls for a fling. Can she go from playing the field to playing for keeps?”
We’ve got the full lowdown on Players in our full preview for the Netflix movie.
The Heartbreak Agency (2024)
Added to Netflix: February 14th, 2024
New from Germany for the holiday season, we’ve got The Heartbreak Agency, a rom-com about a man who believes he’s immune to love and is skeptical of heartbreak therapists and decides to profile one for an article. What he didn’t expect to happen, however, is that he ends up opening his heart to his charming therapist.
The movie is directed by Shirel Peleg and stars Rosalie Thomass, Laurence Rupp, Cora Trube, Jerry Hoffmann, and Jakob Schreier.
Still to Come in 2024…
They’re all the new romance and rom-coms currently on Netflix, but what about what’s around the corner? Here’s a look ahead for the rest of the year:
Irish Wish
Coming to Netflix: March 15th, 2024
One romantic comedy that could’ve easily dropped for Valentine’s Day but is being saved for perhaps the more appropriate holiday of St. Patrick’s Day is the second major movie coming exclusively to Netflix starring Lindsay Lohan.
Headlined by Lindsay Lohan and Ed Speleers, the movie follows Maddie, who is putting her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid for her best friend, who is marrying the man of her dreams.
We’ve got lots more on Irish Wish in our big preview for the Netflix movie.
The other new movies on the way in 2023 include:
- A Family Affair – Originally set to arrive on Netflix in 2023, A Family Affair was eventually pushed back, and it looks like 2024 may be the year when it hits our screens. Directed by Richard LaGravenese and starring Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Joey King, Liza Koshy, and Kathy Bates, the movie is about an affair that hits a well-to-do family.
- Lonely Planet – Susannah Grant is the writer and director behind this new romantic movie starring Liam Hemsworth and Laura Dern.
- Mother of the Bride – Arriving on Netflix for Mother’s Day (May 9th) is this new rom-com starring Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove.

- Something’s Gotta Give (2003) – A classic from Nancy Meyers (making up for the fact that Netflix shelved her newest project that was supposed to be a Netflix Original) starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton that was re-added to Netflix US on February 1st.
- The Vow (2012) – When a recently married young woman awakens with amnesia following a car accident, her devoted husband must help her recover and win back her love.
- Waves (2019) – One of the many A24 movies to have landed on Netflix over the past few months is Waves, starring Taylor Russell and Alexa Demie. The sports romance tells the story of
