Derren Brown is a master of his art and has already created several fantastic specials for Netflix. Three specials have been released in 2018 and if you’re wondering which one you should watch first, here’s every special ranked.
If you’re new to Derren Brown, then you should probably know what you’re getting before diving in. Derren Brown is first and foremost, an entertainer. He’s known for his programs where he either performs magic-like tricks or conducts social experiments. How real are his programs? Well, you can never say for sure. That’s the beauty of his programs, you can watch with an open mind and come away questioning everything.
3. Derren Brown: Miracle
Release Date: June 22nd, 2018
IMDb Score: 6.2/10
In his second, original, Derren Brown tackles faith healing. Naturally, this one was actually one of the most controversial Netflix Originals as he specifically targets religion throughout. Just take a look at the IMDb reviews for evidence of that. He looks to expose some of the most common types of faith healing that’d you’d see online and show how they do it.
This special sees Derren Brown in an audience for the majority of the show. Despite some cool segments, this Derren Brown title ranks the worst purely because the special never really gets going after the first 5 minutes ultimately resulting in an anti-climax.
2. Derren Brown: The Push
Release Date: February 27th, 2018
IMDb Score: 7.5/10
The Push isn’t quite a full Netflix Original as it aired first in the United Kingdom. Despite this, Netflix carries it as an Original in every country around the world. The episode shares many similarities with the newest episode whereby it puts someone into a controlled environment and forces him to do something out of the ordinary. In this special, he tries to get a man to commit murder by controlling the events around him.
The biggest problem you’ll have with this show coming out is your guilt for enjoying the physical and mental stress laid onto the subject. It’s absolutely thrilling and trust us, you won’t be pausing for one second throughout.
1. Derren Brown: Sacrifice
Release Date: October 19th, 2018
IMDb Score: –/10
The only reason this one ranks higher than The Push is that of the time in history it’s released. The episode is set upon the backdrop on a lot of angst because of divisive politics. Its subject, Phil, is involved in an experiment where eventually, he’ll take a bullet for an illegal immigrant.
It’s by far one of the most complex productions of Derren Brown’s career and will have you on the edge of your seat throughout.
Few reviews have been released on IMDb so far but we feel most of the negativity will be surrounding the legitimacy around Phil.
