Ryan Coogler’s new vampire epic, Sinners, has become an overnight success and an unexpected one, too. With incredible reviews across the board and box office takings surpassing all expectations, Sinners is one of the biggest movies of the year so far. If you’ve already ventured out to the cinemas to watch the movie or are waiting for it to come to streaming, will it be on Netflix? The answer looks to be yes.
Grossing over $60 million in its opening weekend and having an almost perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, the new movie sees Ryan Coogler (best known for the Black Panther movies) team with Michael B. Jordan for an unconventional musical meets western meets vampire horror. The plot follows twin brothers’ returning to their hometown to start their lives over again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.
Will Sinners be released on Netflix US? When Will It Drop?
For the past couple of years, Netflix has ramped up licensing movies from Warner Bros. Discovery. While there’s no publicly announced deal between Netflix and WB for the past six months or so, we’ve essentially seen their entire theatrical slate land on Netflix around midway through the first window, which is shared with Max. That was the case over Christmas with titles like Furiosa, Horizon: An American Saga, and even Dune: Part 2. It has continued into 2025, too, with Trap and soon Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arriving on Netflix in the US. We’re also expecting A Minecraft Movie to drop later this year.
Deadline, in their box office report for the movie, also mentioned Netflix being part of the rollout for Sinners, saying, “Sinners’ breakeven lies around $170M global box office, and that’s because of the lucrative downstream from PVOD, Max, followed by subsequent windows on Prime and Netflix.”
From what we’ve observed thus far, Netflix receives WB films around 4-5 months after they first release on Max, which itself has to wait around 2-3 months to receive the latest theatrical movies. Applying similar logic here: Sinners will arrive on Max sometime in late Summer 2025 (June-August) before jumping to Netflix in addition to continuing to stream on Max from anywhere between October and December (if not later).
What about Netflix internationally? Will Other Regions Stream Sinners in 2025?
Possibly, but only in a select few regions within the next year or so. Again, no publicized deals here, but from what we’ve observed, Netflix in Japan and Australia are amongst the first regions to stream new theatrical releases from Warner Bros. Pictures, so expect it to arrive in late 2025, if not 2026.
Looking further ahead, most European territories (including the UK) receive new movies around 1.5 to 3.5 years after release (a case in point is Wonka, which is set to arrive in most territories in March, with the UK getting titles much later, such as Elvis, only recently landing in January 2025).
We’ll keep posted on more details about the Netflix streaming availability for Sinners as and when we learn more!
