The Men in Black are back but in a rebooted format. Men In Black: International just hit cinemas across the world and if you’re wondering whether the new movie is headed to Netflix, we’ve got all you need to know below.
The long-running Men In Black returns for a soft-reboot with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson teaming up to take on aliens who threaten the Earth. The pair are mostly known for their appearance together in the Thor movies from the Marvel universe.
Reviews for the movie haven’t been particularly kind with one reviewer saying you’ll instantly forget everything about it as if they were flashed by the devices used in the movie.
Will Men in Black: International be coming to Netflix US?
There’s a definitely a chance that Men in Black: International will be coming to Netflix, but not until after 2021. STARZ is currently in a contract with Sony to receive all of their latest cinematic releases on their streaming service. This contract is in place until 2021.
Sony has made it abundantly clear that once this contract has expired, they will begin to license their films on an individual basis. What this means for Netflix is they will be in competition with various other streaming services to license Sony’s cinematic releases per film, i.e it will go to the highest bidder.
Those with Netflix DVD subscription will be able to rent the movie by the end of 2019.
Will Men in Black: International be coming to other regions?
Typically in the United Kingdom, Sony licenses its content to Sky and Now TV first. Once the film has streamed for a limited time on those networks, the likely home would be Netflix when the license is available.
Men in Black: International will be streaming in late 2019 or early 2020. If the film will be coming to Netflix UK don’t expect it to arrive until of least 2021.
Netflix US and Netflix Canada receive titles around the same time. Which means Netflix Canada could also be waiting a couple of years before Men in Black: International arrives.
As for Australia if Netflix doesn’t receive the title then Amazon Prime or Foxtel are the streaming services to check out.
