“You’re so dark. Are you sure you’re not from the DC universe?” It’s about the time when we can expect to see Deadpool 2 arriving on streaming services around the world. Considering the deal Netflix has with Marvel films, can we expect to see Deadpool 2 on Netflix anytime soon?
Deadpool 2 arrived in cinemas back in June 2018. After a phenomenal run in the box office with the first film, the sequel didn’t fail to impress. The film brought in over $700 Million at the box office, so between the 2 films over $1.4 Billion has been brought in! With the FOX and Disney deal still being negotiated the future of the anti-hero is still up for debate. But considering the amount of cash and popularity the character can reap we can easily see a third film in the works eventually.
The merc’ with a mouth is back! After Wade meets Russell a rage-filled teenage mutant from an orphanage, he is compelled to protect him from the hands of Cable. Traveling back in time from his dystopian future Cable is determined to kill Russell after his future counterpart killed his family. Realizing he is in over his head Deadpool enlists the help of other super-powered mercenaries to help him fight Cable and save Russell.
Will Deadpool 2 be coming to Netflix US?
The short answer is no. Sadly the likelihood is Deadpool 2 won’t be coming to Netflix at all. Like its predecessor, it is more than likely to be available to subscribers through HBO Now and Hulu. While Deadpool 2 is unavailable to stream right now it is available to rent or purchase through services like YouTube and Google Play.
Many people will have the question “Well isn’t Deadpool 2 a Marvel film?” and yes while you are correct it is not apart of the MCU. Deadpool 2 is still under the ownership of Fox until the Disney takeover goes through. Therefore only titles from the MCU arrive on Netflix, any titles from Fox are not tied to this deal.
What about other regions?
The first film was on Netflix UK for a very limited amount of time, even then it took 2 years after the release of the film before it came to Netflix. Deadpool 2 will eventually end up on Now TV and Sky Go for a limited time. Once it leaves Sky and Now TV many other streaming services will be bidding to stream the merc’ with a mouth.
