The Good Wife is being slowly removed from Netflix around the world. Here’s a look back at The Good Wife on Netflix across the regions, why it has left and where you can watch it now.
The Good Wife follows the story of Alicia Florrick, played by Julianna Margulies, as she rebuilds her spin-offer against a background of growing children, a philandering and corrupt husband and the maelstrom of the American court system.
During the show’s runtime between 2009 and 2016, it’s picked up many loyal fans and has been widely critically acclaimed. One thing is for sure, many Netflix users will miss this show dearly.
Due to the popularity of the show, it spawned a spin-off called ‘The Good Fight’ which first aired on February 19th, 2017. The show stars Christine Baranski and is set one year after the finale of The Good Wife. Unfortunately, this spin-off series is not available on UK, or US Netflix and is exclusively owned by CBS All Access.
Speaking of CBS, if you are a US viewer, the only streaming option you have for either show is their own service CBS All Access.
Why ‘The Good Wife’ Left Netflix in the USA
The Good Wife was available on Netflix as part of a wide range of titles from CBS up until early 2018. The show was removed from Netflix US in a move by CBS to pull back the majority of its content from the streaming service.
Madam Secretary still comes to Netflix as does a couple of other titles but The Good Wife (having finished) was yanked from the service for good.
The good news is that in the US, the show still resides on several streaming services. Naturally, it is available on CBS All Access but Amazon Prime and Hulu still pay for the license too although how long that will be for is another story.
The Good Wife leaving other Netflix regions
The United Kingdom was the next to see the show leave with all seven seasons (which had been streaming for a year at the point of removal) left Netflix UK in February 2018.
Netflix Australia was the next to see the show leave with it being removed on August 1st, 2019.
Netflix Canada still has the show streaming but will likely see it removed in the near future. The shows seventh season came to Netflix in April 2019 so we may see the show leave at some point in 2020 if the other regions availability is anything to go by.
