Netflix has officially branched into science with its 10 part new series from the build team from Mythbusters and it looks to have gone over well and will pave the way for a new type of show on Netflix to be followed up by a new Bill Nye series in 2017. Many are asking whether we’ll get another season of White Rabbit Project, so let’s take a look.
Official renewal status: Cancelled by Netflix
The three presenters of the show were all in the build team of the long-running series Mythbusters starring Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. After Mythbusters was canceled and ran its last season this year. The build team was announced back in September to be producing a Netflix original series. The series would consist on the team building and researching different subjects and like the show before it, focus on the science of how these things work.
At this point, it’s almost certain that the team will be returning to Netflix purely given Netflix’s investment in its originals in 2016 and beyond. The series fits into a new format which they’ve not done and given the three’s expertise, it’ll make sense to renew the series for many years to come. Given it’s a lot more inexpensive compared to its other originals that makes it a no brainer too.
When would a second season arrive on Netflix? That’s a little harder to say. Given the fact we’ve not seen this type of show on Netflix yet, it leaves us in the dark. Although it has the same production company as Mythbusters, you’d think that it’d make it in the same schedule. Mythbusters was aired all throughout the entire year though which won’t be the case for White Rabbit Project.
So that only leaves us to believe that Netflix would produce and release another season in a yearly fashion meaning we’d get season 2 in December 2017.
If we hear anything else regarding the renewal status and release date, we’ll update this post.
