The cultural smash hit Marie Kondo arrived on Netflix back in January 2019 with her brand new Netflix series where, like the Fab Five, she transforms peoples lives but in rather different circumstances. If you’re wondering if there’s going to be a second season of Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, let’s bring you up to speed.
Netflix has been slowly building up its collection of reality TV shows with both imports and exclusively made Original content. Tidying Up sees internet star Marie Kondo travel around the US and getting their houses in order.
As you may have heard, the show led to a noticeable increase in charity donations in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
The series was also recently nominated for the Critics Choice Real TV Awards but has seemingly been beaten out by Queer Eye, another Netflix Original series.
Has Netflix renewed Tidying Up with Marie Kondo?
Official renewal status: Not officially renewed (last updated: 06/11/2019)
Six months after its Netflix release, we still don’t know officially whether or not the Marie Kondos Netflix series is returning for a second outing.
One indication that a second season may be on the horizon is a casting page from the company that handles getting the subjects onto the show. Although not updated to specifically mention season 2, the company does say:
Casting for season 1 has concluded, but you are welcome to complete an application in anticipation of future seasons.
Marie Kondo does have a couple of other projects on the go, however. She’s been a prolific author in the past and announced in May 2019 that she’s wrapping up two new books. She also still has her Netflix series displayed prominently on her site.
As to when Netflix may possibly drop a second season of Tidying Up is a little hard to predict. The easy answer is that it’ll arrive on an annual basis, meaning January 2020, but given the lack of information thus far, that may be optimistic.
We’ve reached out the production company behind the show for any news regarding season 2.
