A major CBS series is scheduled to leave Netflix in November 2019. Blue Bloods which is one of the staple shows from the network currently is listed to be removed from the service in the United States on November 5th, 2019.
Blue Bloods is a crime procedural that has been running since 2010. It’s about a family of NYC cops and their various ups and downs in their positions.
As of the time of publishing eight seasons of the show are currently on Netflix with season 9 not having been added in its usual time slot. As you can probably expect by now, with the removal of Blue Bloods that means season 9 or the upcoming tenth season will not be coming to Netflix.
All eight seasons of Blue Bloods are scheduled to leave Netflix US on November 5th, 2019.
No other region of Netflix outside the United States carries Blue Bloods.
It’s not the first major CBS departure either. Earlier this year, Hawaii Five-0 made its departure for exclusivity on CBS All Access. Given the fact that the likes of Criminal Minds and NCIS have failed to get new seasons added to Netflix thus far in 2018 and 2019, we suspect they’ll be also leaving over the next year or so.
The move shouldn’t necessarily be surprising as CBS consolidates most of its library on CBS All Access. From a business standpoint, they want as many subscribers as they can on its platform so it makes little sense to continue licensing out to Netflix in this instance.
As the so-called streaming wars heat up, you’ll find Netflix almost wholly reliant on its slate of Original content as will every other streaming service. CBS All Access for many is a hard ask given its lineup and price point.
