Gotham just wrapped up its fifth and final season on FOX and will be coming to Netflix around the world later in 2019 Here’s the Netflix release schedule for season 5 of Gotham on Netflix.
The prequel series to Batman has been a big success for FOX since it started airing back in 2014. The series, as you may know, rewinds the clock on the Gotham universe with a young Bruce Wayne navigating life without his parents and Detective Gordan at the beginning of his career.
Season 5 of Gotham saw the majority the cast return with some updates to their looks. There’ll be some other changes too with the series being dropped from 22 episodes to 12 although it was planned for even less. We also saw the introduction of Bane and Nyssa in the final season too.
Now, despite the series arriving much later than usual (September is normally when new seasons air), the series will still wrap up in May or early June thanks to the shorter season length.
Gotham Season 5 Netflix Release Dates
Let’s now take a look at each individual English speaking Netflix region to see when season 5 of Gotham will drop on the service as it will differ slightly depending on where you reside.
For those in the United States, new seasons have released for the past several years in September and that’s once again the case for the final season. The final season is due out on September 30th.
Likewise, Canadians can expect it to be available on Netflix in September 2019 at the earliest.
If you’re in the United Kingdom, you’ll likely have the shortest wait of all the regions. Normally, new episodes came in August but this year, the final season will be on Netflix on July 24th, 2019.
For Australians, you’re still waiting for season 4 to be added. Australia did catch up in 2019 adding seasons 2 and 3 but probably won’t get season 5 until 2020.
Wait, won’t Gotham be leaving Netflix in the US?
As you probably know, Fox has been yanking its content from Netflix over the past couple of years thanks to their contract falling through. The good news here, however, is that Fox doesn’t control the streaming rights for the show.
That’s down to Warner Brothers who has decided to give Netflix the streaming license. Of course, a problem could arise next year when Warner Brother releases its own streaming service or they opt to put the series on its DC streaming service instead.
