Babylon Berlin is coming back for its third season in early 2020 and if you’re looking for when it’ll be releasing on Netflix or any other details regarding season 3 of Babylon Berlin, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s the latest on the German series.
First and foremost, we must reiterate that although Babylon Berlin is marketed as a Netflix Original in many regions, it is in fact only licensed as an Original by Netflix.
The thriller period series drama which currently has two seasons on Netflix is about the golden twenties in Berlin, the capital of Germany. It focuses on a commissioner who returns to the city to help dismantle a crime ring.
Seasons 1 and 2 both released in late 2017 in Germany and came to Netflix on January 30th, 2018 and February 23rd, 2019.
Season 3 of Babylon Berlin is set to release on Sky Deutschland from January 24th, 2020 onwards although a premiere took place in December for the new season.
12 episodes are set to release as part of season 3 which will see Henk Handloegten, Achim von Borries and Tom Tykwer return to direct and write the new season. The new season is based on the novel which is translated as “The Mute Death” taking place 10 months after season 2.
Some new actors and actresses have also joined for season 3.
When will season 3 of Babylon Berlin be on Netflix?
Only three regions will likely get the third season and they’re the ones currently carrying seasons 1 and 2. That includes Netflix USA, Canada and Australia.
At the moment, no release schedule has been announced for the Netflix release. We do know that the series isn’t due to release weekly meaning we’ll likely get all the episodes at once.
Season 1 released on Netflix roughly two months after the series wrapped. If that replicates for season 3, we’d see it added to Netflix at some point in summer 2020.
Worst case scenario is the same wait for season 2 which arrived a year and a bit after its finale aired. If that’s the case, we won’t see the title added until 2021.

Will Netflix UK get Babylon Berlin?
Sadly, any region where Sky as an entity carries Babylon Berlin as opposed to Netflix. That means you’ll have to wait until it airs on Sky TV in the United Kingdom or stream via its NowTV service.
Will there be a season 4 of Babylon Berlin?
Absolutely. It’s already been planned that more episodes are on the way for Babylon Berlin and we’ll cover that season once season 3 has released.
