Netflix is home to a number of Batman movies but with a wide library of titles, we thought we’d take a complete look at the Batman movies and see which ones are on Netflix, have been or soon to be.
As you may know, major movie franchises do appear on Netflix albeit on an inconsistent basis and often not in complete sets. That’s the case with franchises such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
Older Batman Movies on Netflix (1960s-1997)
We’re going to refer to these movies as the classic Batman movies. It includes the first main 1940’s Batman and the 1949 follow-up Batman and Robin. We’re also including the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher movies here too.
Some of the older Batman movies have appeared on Netflix in the past. In fact, the last time some were available was back in January 2018. They’ve since been removed but there’s always the chance of their return in the future. The movies that have streamed on Netflix but have since been removed include:
- Batman (1989)
- Batman Returns (1992)
- Batman Forever (1995)
- Batman & Robin (1997)
No other regions are currently streaming the older Batman movies.
Christopher Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy
Thankfully, the Christopher Nolan era movies are more widely available on Netflix. The legendary director takes the DC character to darker territory in this trilogy. In fact, it’s been revealed that movie had to be heavily edited to keep its PG-13 rating. The dark knight is played by Christian Bale.
In the United States, Netflix got both Batman Begins (2005) and the second movie The Dark Knight (2008). These were added on August 1st, 2018.

- Batman Begins (2005) is available on Netflix in the United States, Israel, Poland and Singapore.
- The Dark Knight (2008) is available on Netflix in the US, Australia, Singapore, Israel and Poland.
- The Dark Knight Rises (2012) is available on Netflix in France, Germany, Poland, Israel, India and Australia.
DC Extended Universe on Netflix
Since 2016, Warner Brothers has been desperately trying to compete with Marvel with its expanded universe. Batman, now played by Ben Affleck.
Here’s a look at each of the DC extended universe movies and where they’re available on Netflix.
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) is available on Netflix in Canada, Germany, India and Hong Kong.
- Wonder Woman (2016) is not on Netflix anywhere.
- Justice League (2017) is not on Netflix anywhere.
Other Batman titles on Netflix
Batman features in multiple series and animated movies too. Here’s a breakdown of the other Batman titles available on Netflix.
- Young Justice (Season 1 to 2) is only now on Netflix in Hong Kong. It left Netflix US back in August 2017.
