We Are the Wave is a Netflix Original German coming-of-age drama series, loosely based on the novel The Wave by author Morton Rhue. This is the third project adapted by The Wave, after the 2008 film of the same name and TV special. We Are the Wave was directed by Anca Miruna Lăzărescu and Mark Monheim.
What is the plot of We Are the Wave?
When a group of angry teens is led by a new boy in class to pursue a dream of a better future, they begin to revolt against the establishment. When their movement grabs the attention of other like-minded youths, soon what started as a peaceful and idealistic approach to revolt against the social norms suddenly gains a threatening amount of momentum. With their futures on the line, will the purpose really justify the means?
Is We Are the Wave focused on fascism
If the trailer is anything to go by, We Are the Wave doesn’t appear to focus on fascism. Instead, the latest iteration of the controversial book will focus on anarchism.

Filming took place across several different towns and cities in Germany. Locations that were used are:

Filming began on the 11th of February 2019 and lasted until the 6th of May 2019.
