Netflix is giving its Spanish comedy-drama series Valeria a final season. Developed by María López Castaño, the series was expected to have ended, with numerous outlets reporting that season 3 was the final season. However, that’s not the case with a fourth and final season on the way.
First debuting on the service in May 2020 with new seasons in August 2021 and June 2023, the show stars Diana Gómez, Silma López
Paula Malia and Teresa Riott, with the plot revolving around a writer who hits writer’s block and a roadblock in her personal life and goes on a journey of discovery with her three friends.
The renewal announcement of season 4 came via Netflix’s Spanish accounts on March 12th (Tweet translated into English):
“We want it for breakfast. To eat. And for dinner. #ValeriaNetflix will have a fourth and final season.”

Netflix’s Spain social accounts also confirmed that production has begun on the fourth and final season of the show as of March 12th with the following photo of the cast on set:
Filming on Valeria season 4
The renewal of Valeria isn’t hugely surprising, but neither is the fact that it’s coming to an end. As we tracked with season 3, which launched in June 2023, the series had an impressive opening weekend, tracking neck and neck with season 2 but notably not growing its audience substantially.
More granular data from FlixPatrol suggests the show is primarily a hit in Spain, where it has spent 122 days in the top 10s so far. It’s also featured in the daily top 10s in over 50 countries altogether, with other high-performing regions, including Turkey, Argentina, Portugal, France, and Uruguay.

This is one of several Spanish shows set to return for an additional season at Netflix. Elite is returning for a final season in 2024. The Snow Girl is currently in production for a second season, and most recently, we saw the renewal of Berlin.
