Every Tuesday, Netflix updates its top 10 stats page with 40 new hourly figures for the top movies and shows of the past seven days. This data drop allows us to see exactly how well your favorite Netflix movies and shows are performing. This week, the biggest stories surround the future of Pulse and The Residence, plus plenty of other launches for new films and series.
As a reminder, you can use our top 10 search tool to easily go back through all Netflix data for specific titles and weeks.
Note: In this report of Netflix’s hours viewed from March 31st, 2025 to April 6th, 2025, we’ll use “Complete Viewings Equivalent,” or CVE, expressed in millions. That means we divide the hours viewed announced by Netflix by the runtime of films or series. It allows for better comparisons between films and series, but it’s not an audience metric. It is the minimum number of viewings if they were all complete from the first second to the last of the film or season.
1. The Residence
Things are getting a bit more complicated for Shondaland’s The Residence which was supposed to be Netflix big new series of March 2025, only to get the air sucked out of the room by monster hit Adolescence. After its first 14 days, it is below our surefire-to-get-renewed-threshold 20M CVEs with only 17.5M, but it’s not all lost since it’s in the same boat as A Man on the Inside, which was renewed thanks to its positive public reception. Shonda Rhimes may have to ask for a few favors, though, if she doesn’t want to face her first cancellation at Netflix.
2. Pulse
Let’s take the pulse of Netflix’s new medical drama Pulse. Its launch is more or less in line with Netflix’s recent new series debuts: with 6.5M CVEs in 4 days, it’s pretty much on par with The Residence and No Good Deed. Prognosis? Inconclusive, based on these initial numbers. The show’s pulse must pick up quickly next week if it wants a fighting chance.
3. Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer
Moving from Wednesday, Netflix’s Monday docuseries drop is starting to feel like a routine, and the latest one, Gone Girls: The Long Island Killer, is off to a strong start with 13M CVEs in 7 days — nearly matching Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.
4. Banger is no banger at all.
Netflix France’s 2025 slate is definitely a mix of highs (Ad Vitam) and some real lows (Alpha Males), and Banger isn’t going to help tip the balance upward. The film, starring Vincent Cassel, completely flopped at launch with just 1.9M CVEs in 5 days — the worst opening for a French Netflix film released on a Wednesday in my dataset.
5. Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3
Season 3 of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is off to a slightly slower start than the previous one, with 2.5M CVEs in 4 days (compared to 2.9M for Season 2). It was expected, as fans tend to stick around after the first season, and the drop between the two last seasons is fairly modest. A renewal for another season is very likely, which, as we’ve reported recently, has likely already happened.
6. Devil May Cry Has a Killer Start
As the live-action Minecraft film is having great success in the theaters, Netflix often bets on video game adaptations in animated form, and Devil May Cry is off to a solid start with 5.3M CVEs in its first 4 days. That’s well behind Sonic Prime, but well ahead of Castlevania: Nocturne within the same genre.
7. Karma
The South Korean mini-series Karma is off to a good start with 3.6M CVEs — the 4th best launch for a Korean limited series, behind The Silent Sea but ahead of Hierarchy. Solid, then, but nothing extraordinary.
8. Promised Hearts and Test.
Two other international films were released last Week alongside Banger, and they did a bit better than the French film (that’s a low bar though).
From Indonesia, the film Promised Hearts doesn’t offer much ground for comparison since it dropped last Monday, giving it a full 7 days to reach 5.5M CVEs — the second-best launch (out of three) for an Asian film released on a Monday.
Out of India, the sports drama Test had a middling start with 2.7M CVEs in its first 3 days — the 12th best opening for an Indian film released on a Friday since June 2021.
That’s all for this week, feel free to let us know what you think in the comments below. I’ll be back on Friday with a brand new article breaking down where Netflix’s biggest hits come from and ranking the power players.
