Netflix is giving you another way to watch its collection of Wes Anderson shorts, including The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which netted the streamer an Oscar. Due out on March 15th globally, Netflix is repackaging the four shorts into a simplified movie.

The short movie win was the only win for Netflix at the Oscars, bringing their total tally of wins to 23 against their 155 total nominations.

Following the win at the 96th Oscars, Netflix shared a quote from Wes Anderson celebrating his win:

“If I could have been there, I (along with Steven Rales) would have said “Thank you” to: the family of Roald Dahl, the team at Netflix, Benedict and Ralph and Ben Kingsley and Dev and Richard and Bob and Adam and Jeremy and John and Jim and Rich and Jim and Polly and more.

And also I would have said: if i had not met Owen Wilson in a corridor at the University of Texas between classes when I was 18 years old, I would certainly not be receiving this award tonight — but unfortunately Steven and I are in Germany and we start shooting our new movie early tomorrow morning, so I did not actually receive the award or get a chance to say any of that.” – Wes Anderson

As you may know, Netflix released The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar alongside three other short films in the final week of September 2023. Those other shorts included Poison, The Rat Catcher, and The Swan. Almost overshadowed by the primary short, this new repackaged version will see them all grouped together in a continuous runtime. The shorts are also expected to remain independent titles on Netflix.

The total runtime of the new movie will be 88 minutes and 6 seconds. That’s shorter than the combined runtime of the titles that run for 92 minutes.

Rumors of further shorts also surfaced towards the end of 2024. WorldOfReel, not citing any sources, states that at least “two more shorts” were filmed and haven’t been released yet, one of which adapts the Roald Dahl story Lucky Break.

Either way, Netflix has a lot of Roald Dahl projects in the works, with the next dated project currently being The Twits, due out in 2025.
