The Haunting of Hill House has been a massive success since its release on Netflix in October 2018. If you’ve watched the first season, you’re probably wondering whether Netflix has renewed for season 2 and when it’ll be on Netflix. Here’s what we know.
Netflix has dabbled in horror series until now but has mainly relied on American Horror Story for its horror lineup. This show has changed the game.
The show comes from Mike Flanagan, who has become a legendary horror director in recent years with hits like Ouja, Hush, and more under his belt. As he discussed in a recent interview, Mike is currently scheduled to be working on a sequel to The Shining.
Does the story warrant a season 2?
Spoilers below
While there are still a few loose threads, most could and are making the case that the series ended with a satisfying conclusion. The story ended on a bittersweet note with the death of Crain’s father, Hugh. He had reunited with his Wife and Daughter, and in death, they could be together forever in Hill House.
The Haunting of Hill House Season 2 Renewal Status
Official Renewal Status: Renewed (Last updated: February 22nd, 2019)
Netflix has officially renewed for a second season! Like many have suspected, the next season will not continue the story of the Crane family. Instead, the series will continue as an Anthology thus the story will take place in a different home with new characters.
The Haunting of Hill House was adapted from the novel of the same name. Season 2 will adapt from the novel The Turn of the Screw, to which the second season has officially been given the name of The Haunting of Bly Manor.
When would season 2 be released on Netflix?
As the Tweet reference above, the next season isn’t expected until 2020. Which month the series will arrive is anyone’s guess but the likely release date is potentially Halloween. This of course entirely depends on when production begins and ends.
