The next season of Captain Underpants: The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants will be released on Netflix globally on February 8th, 2019. Here’s what you need to know about the next season of the series, plus thoughts from the writer of the original series.

The series will be joining the February 2019 lineup of releases for Originals which already is shaping up to be a big month for kids shows thanks to the second season release of The Dragon Prince.

The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants is among many Dreamworks TV series produced exclusively for Netflix. The first season dropped in July 2018. The series performed well with critics and managed to get nominated for an Annie Award for “Outstanding Achievement for Editorial in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production.”

Dav Pilkey, the author of the original novel series and a producer of the series, took to Instagram to announce when Captain Underpants will be back.

Who’s returning to voice in season 2 of The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants?

Nat Faxon is set to return for the second season. He has been appearing in a multitude of different Netflix shows recently, including Disenchantment and Friends from College.

Ramone Hamilton and Jay Gragnani will both return to play their roles as George Beard and Harold Hutchins, respectively.

Sean Astin is expected to return as the narrator.

Will there be more seasons of The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants?

As we discussed in our original article on season 2, predicting the lifespan and release dates of Dreamworks shows is particularly challenging. Most Dreamworks shows seem to be around six to eight seasons in length, and that’s expected to be the case for this show, too.

Assuming season 3 is coming, we expect it to drop before 2019 draws close.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie also remains streaming on Netflix for the meantime but is expected to leave sometime in 2019.
