Shadowhunters season 2 is back on our screens, and we’re here to fill you in with the release dates for all the episodes in season 2. Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments in a Netflix Original in many countries and therefore will be getting weekly drops, but if you’re in the US, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Here’s what you need to know.
Airing on Freeform in the US, the fantasy series is based on the book of the same name. Its first season was met with a lot of praise even if I myself had some reservations. It follows the story of Clary Fay who spent her life not knowing she’d be involved in a group called the Shadowhunters who fight off demons using their abilities and runes. The first season was picked up by Netflix in international regions such as the United Kingdom, Australia and more with weekly episodes dropping on each countries service.
Going into season 2, Freeform has upped the episode count going from 13 episodes to 20 for the second season which means there’s a lot more content to enjoy this year.
Shadowhunters Netflix Release Schedule
When will new episodes of Shadowhunters come to Netflix? Well, new episodes air in the US on a Monday and then come to Netflix the next day. Here’s an entire rundown as to when each episode will be released on Netflix.

The boost in episode count means we’ll be seeing new episodes of Shadowhunters arrive until early summer. There could also be scheduling problems between now and then but we’ll update the schedule above if necessary.
When will season 2 of Shadowhunters come to Netflix US?
For the US, you’ll have to sadly wait quite a bit longer before getting season 2 available on your Netflix service. As of the time of writing, the US is yet to have season 1 of the show streaming on Netflix. With most contracts like this one where it airs in the US and then gets added elsewhere on Netflix, the show then gets US Netflix drops weeks before a new season lands on Netflix. This hasn’t been the case for Shadowhunters so don’t expect season 2 of Shadowhunters to be on Netflix at all in the future.
