The team at Powerhouse Animation really outdid themselves with Mexican anime series Seis Manos. After a fantastic first season, fans are questioning when can a second season be expected on Netflix? Unfortunately, we’re still waiting on news of renewal, but there’s evidence to suggest that could change very soon.
Seis Manos is a Netflix Original anime series created by Brad Graeber and Álvaro Rodríguez. The series is the first Original American-Mexican anime series and was produced by Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania). While many question its status as an anime series because of its North American production, regardless it’s still a fantastic looking series with an equally great story.
In the fictional town of San Simon in 1970 Mexico, three orphaned martial arts warriors join forces with a DEA agent and Mexican Federale to avenge the death of their beloved mentor.
Seis Manos Season 2 Netflix Renewal Status

It’s been over a month since the release of Seis Manos, and Netflix is still yet to announce the future of the series. Netflix is known for its radio silence when it comes to the renewal of their titles. Some Originals can be renewed within weeks, while others may take months. Thankfully the showrunner of the series, Brad Graeber, has been vocal about the potential future of the series. In an interview with Bubble Blabber, Graeber revealed the existence of a script for the second season.
The fact that a script exists, shows there’s hope for the future of the series.
It must be noted that Powerhouse Animation is hard at work producing upcoming Original anime such as Gods & Heroes and Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
What has the response been from subscribers?
Overall the response from subscribers has been very positive.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Seis Manos before I finally forced myself to give it a watch. But I’m legitimately glad I gave it a chance; it’s got some amazing action, some legitimately solid character work, and is a generally thrilling show.

Seis Manos was such an insane and intense anime! Love the 70s setting in Mexico; Jesus is my favorite character; and the action scenes were awesome!

How have critics taken to the series?
Seis Manos received an incredible amount of praise from acclaimed The Book of Life of director Jorge Gutierrez, hailing the series as “The Citizen Kane of Mexican anime”.
The series has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 91%. Seis Manos as a user rating of 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
Seis Manos Season 2 Netflix Release Date
Assuming that Seis Manos will be renewed, we aren’t expecting to see the second season for a long time. If it follows the same release schedule as Castlevania, the second season won’t be available until 2021. There were fifteen months in-between the first and second seasons of Castlevania.
Anime fans are used to long waits, but hopefully, Seis Manos fans will hear some good news soon.
