Alongside the announcement that Netflix will be saving Designated Survivor with a 10 episode new season, we also learned that Netflix is planning to release the previous episodes of Designated Survivor onto Netflix later this year.
The ABC show which was canceled this year by ABC due to falling ratings had fans pleading to Netflix regarding a potential renewal. It’s understood that negotiations have been ongoing for several months but finally, Netflix came out and announced it was coming back.
Rejoice, you have a new binge watch coming in late 2018. Although that’s as specific as they can be at this point in time, fall lies between late September and December.

If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it starred Keifer Sutherland who played the role of President Kirkland who got his role after the United States Congress was blown up. The two early seasons aired on ABC and were around 22 episodes each. This is set to change going into season 3 as it has been reduced to 10 episodes.
Netflix had the show as an international Netflix Original. That means new episodes were only available on Netflix outside of the United States.
Will Seasons 1 and 2 stay on Netflix outside of the United States?
Absolutely. Netflix will soon become the home of the show meaning that all of the previous episodes will be staying on Netflix too. As you’ll know, weekly episodes of season 1 and 2 came to the service shortly after it aired in the United States.
Will the previous episodes of Designated Survivor come to Netflix in Canada?
Yes, Canada is also included in the deal.
