Season 3 of IFC’s flagship show Documentary Now! is coming to Netflix in June 2019 just a couple of months after its season 3 finale. Here’s what to expect from the new series plus news about season 4 and when that might come to Netflix.
The show is filmed to mock documentary formats with the series effectively acting as an anthology. It’s seen huge stars throughout the years including the likes of Anne Hathaway and Jack Black. The writing staff includes many SNL members such as Seth Myers, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader. Helen Mirren stars at the beginning of each episode to introduce the spoof documentary about to air.
If you love some of the other IFC shows on Netflix such as Portlandia or Comedy Bang! Bang! you should absolutely check out this show. Alternatively, if you love mockumentaries like The Office or Parks and Recreation, we’d also suggest giving this show a try.
Season 3 aired on IFC between February 20th to March 27th 2019 with seven brand new episodes.
Here are some of the guests that featured in season 3 of Documentary Now!:
- Owen Wilson
- Connie Chung
- Michael Keaton
- John Mulaney
- Cate Blanchett,
- Michael C. Hall
- Tim Robinson
- Kevin Dunn
- Gary Larson
- Natasha Lyonne
Season 3 is due to release on Netflix in the United States on June 3rd, 2019. It’s one of the few remaining IFC shows to continue getting new seasons dropped on Netflix.
Sadly, only Netflix in the US is the only Netflix region to get the show released. Other regions like the United Kingdom will have to rely exclusively on video-on-demand services as we weren’t able to find streaming homes.
We’ve got good news for the future too. Season 4 of Documentary Now! has been given the green light by IFC but no release date has been announced yet. It’s likely we may be waiting for a while with much of the writing team working on multiple projects simultaneously.
