Santa Clarita Diet Season

Santa Clarita Diet season is currently scheduled for sometime in 2018 and we’re here to fill you in on the news and rumors surrounding season 2 of the Netflix comedy series. We’ll give you a more specific release date as well as come up with our own predictions as to what you can expect from season 2 of Santa Clarita Diet.

As a whole, news about the second season has been almost non-existent with only a few snippets of information surfacing. That doesn’t mean we haven’t found anything though and there’s plenty of clues in the finale of season 1 that’ll tell us where we’re heading for the next season.

Casting News

Santa Clarita Diet Season Picture

Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo are returning for season 2

Although much of the cast will be staying the same with both Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant returning to their roles. Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo are also on the bill for the second season but characters such as Mary Ellis who played Lisa Palmer and Richard Jones who played Rick still have question marks attached to them.

Here are some more names that have been confirmed for season 2:

  • Robert Baker plays Boone Traver
  • Arden Belle plays Emily
  • Abbie Cobb plays Kayla Lawson
  • Shawn-Caulin Young will play AJ Laroche

Season 2 Plot

If you cast your mind back to the end of season 1, we meet Dr. Wolf who is looking to find a cure as Sheila continues to deteriorate and is warned of another case where the patient went nuts. We’ll likely hear more about the virus and what it is and more importantly, I think we’re going to hear about a lot more infections in the second season.

So far, the only two possibilities for the virus has been a mutation of the rabies virus or resurgence of an ancient plague which is expected to have originated from Serbia. In episode 10, the cure was being tested on rats and Sheila’s daughter so in season 2 we’ll get to see whether the virus can be cured but with Joel in jail and Sheila locked up in the basement, it’s not going to be easy.

Season 2 Predictions

Sheilas Toe Santa Clairta

Sheila loses a toe in Santa Clarita Diet

Sheila is going to go feral – With no cure in sight and her already showing symptoms of increased aggression, it’s likely that Sheila is going to become more aggressive and with it become lazier. We already know that most police officers instantly come to dislike the family so will they slip up a bit too far?

They have to travel to Serbia – Given where this is where the original documents and virus likely originated from we predict they’ll have to go on a ‘working vacation’ to Serbia to look for anything else they know about the virus.

More gore – although it was criticized and even banned in Germany, the gore elements of this show was what provided us with some of the funniest scenes. Sheila’s body is deteriorating so expect more stuff to be falling off there.

Release Date

Revealed on February 20th, 2018 the next season of Santa Clarita Diet will be coming to Netflix on March 23rd, 2018 as part of the Netflix Original lineup for that month.

What to watch in the meantime…

Although there’s no comedy on Netflix starring zombies, there are plenty of dramas and horror series. Starting with the dramas, The CW’s shares the most characteristics with Santa Clarita Diet and is now heading into its fourth season. Syfy produces a serious yet often comedic drama series called Z Nation and of course, we could not forget the biggest zombie series going, The Walking Dead.
