Our Planet launched on Netflix earlier this year and now Netflix has launched a new documentary on the series which is available around the world today. Here’s what you need to know.
The Netflix Original series was Netflix’s first big push into the nature documentary arena. Featuring the voice of David Attenborough (or Salma Hayek in Latin America or Penelope Cruz in Spain) the series covers all manners of the different environment across the globe.
Season 1 of Our Planet launched on April 5th, 2019 and although we’re not expecting the second season of Our Planet, Netflix has plenty more docu-series in the pipeline with an overall output deal with James Honeyborne who worked on Blue Planet for the BBC.
The series has been one of Netflix’s biggest documentaries with it getting 25 million households watching within the first week.
What’s Our Planet – Behind The Scenes on Netflix about?
One thing previous documentaries by David Attenborough did like Planet Earth is devoted half of the episode on how they managed to shoot the series.
Here’s how Netflix describes the hour and a bit long documentary:
Years spent recording footage of creatures from every corner of the globe is bound to produce a bit of drama. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look.
The series is once again shot in Ultra HD and comes in four additional languages with those being German, Italian, French and Spanish.
Once you’re done with the Netflix documentary, there’s also a couple of other behind the scenes documentaries well worth checking out. First up is Jack Harries who went to Kenya to follow the team. It offers a unique perspective as an outsider into the series.
Netflix has done behind the scenes before but usually, it gets put onto its YouTube channel. The first behind the scenes documentary Netflix did was with Sense8 and the behind the scenes show for Stranger Things season 2.
