Netflix’s annual showcase of new anime, animation, games, and other geeky content will be back in 2024, What’s on Netflix has confirmed.
We understand that Netflix plans to kick off festivities on September 16th this year with at least five days of announcements and showcases of their upcoming lineup. Whether it’ll run to September 20th or 22nd is unclear. Prior Geeked Weeks have often featured theme days, whether dedicated to formats like movies or series or days dedicated to individual titles like Stranger Things or Rebel Moon or more broad genres like animation and anime. The week typically consists of a mix of live panels, showcases, and announcements via Netflix’s socials.
We don’t know what will feature at the moment (it’s a bit too far out), but there are a bunch of shows either in production or released in late 2024 or 2025 that could easily be showcased. Two hotly anticipated shows that will be in production at the time are Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 and One Piece season 2, so we could get updates from them.
Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods will debut on September 19th, so we expect that new series to be prominent in the festivities. Arcane season 2 will be a couple of months out at that point, so we have some new information and possibly new information for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, which is due out sometime in Q4 2024.
The news comes as many had predicted that Geeked Week would instead return to a summer spot for this year, but that sadly won’t be the case.
As a reminder, here’s when previous Geeked Weeks have taken place:
- 2021 – June 7th to 11th
- 2022 – June 6th to 10th
- 2023 – November 6th to 12th
At Geeked Week 2023, we got reveals for Arcane, The Umbrella Academy, Ultraman: Rising, Leo, The Dragon Prince, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Rebel Moon, and much much more.
Whether there’ll be a Netflix TUDUM this year is unclear. Last year, the event took place as a live exhibition and streamed event in São Paulo in mid-June 2023, which garnered over 25,000 fans in person to the event and 78 million views across Netflix’s socials.
