Netflix’s licensing pickups continue in August 2025, as we’ve learned that Netflix has secured the license in the US for the recently rebooted NBC series Quantum Leap, with both seasons 1 and 2 scheduled to land on August 14, 2025.
Airing on NBC between 2022 and 2024, Quantum Leap was the long-awaited revival of the original show created by Donald P. Bellisario, which ran in the late 1980s and into the 1990s. It’s set several decades after the original, with a new team trying to piece together the mysteries left behind by Dr. Sam Beckett after his disappearance. The show debuted to a lukewarm critical reception, although it did find a small but dedicated audience.
Raymond Lee led the rebooted series as Dr. Ben Song alongside an ensemble cast that included Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, Nanrisa Lee, and Eliza Taylor.
Of course, the series was canceled ahead of its time, with low viewership being the ultimate cause, according to an NBC executive. Many will hope that Netflix may be able to step in and save the show, but the chances of that seem remote given the length of time now gone since its cancellation and the logistics of pulling everyone back together. It’s happened before, though, so if the show blows up to a monumental level, don’t completely count it out.
Following the cancellation, the reboot and the original series were removed entirely from Peacock and have been unavailable ever since. That said, the original series does stream on The Roku Channel, according to JustWatch. That’s now going to change with all 31 episodes across two seasons landing on Netflix.

Quantum Leap will only be on Netflix for a limited time (anywhere between 1 and 3 years), so keep an eye out for the series when it drops.
