Another hit CBS series is heading to Netflix. Following the recent licensing pickups of Evil and Young Sheldon on Netflix in the United States, the drama series Fire Country will join Netflix’s vast library of over 6,000 titles on August 1st, 2024.
Just one season (22 episodes) is expected to land on Netflix on August 1st, with the second season only premiering earlier this year. As you may have heard, the CBS series has also been handed a season 3 renewal, with that expected to premiere in the back half of this year or early 2025.
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television and CBS Studios, the action procedural drama first began airing on CBS in October 2022. It follows a young convict named Bode Donovan (played by Max Thieriot), who volunteers for the California Conservation Camp Program and assists Cal Fire in putting out massive fires that hit the region.
Starring alongside Thieriot includes Kevin Alejandro, Jordan Calloway, Stephanie Arcila, Jules Latimer, and Diane Farr.
The addition of Fire Country to Netflix in the US is not expected to impact its availability on Paramount+, where both seasons currently stream.
This latest licensing pickup comes as Netflix increasingly moves back into the space, having acquired thousands of episodes in the past year alone. Coming up, we know Netflix is set to get a slew of AMC shows, including Interview with the Vampire, Kevin Can F Himself and many more. We’ve also got even more Disney-owned shows throughout 2024, including Prison Break, which is hitting Netflix at the end of July 2024. This push comes as competitors look to increase their cash flow as their linear revenues decline, and Netflix seeks increased engagement time on its app to satisfy advertisers.
