The Polish series 1670 debuted on Netflix globally in December 2023 and has been given a second season order. The historical comedy is about a zany nobleman who navigates family feuds and clashes with peasants hoping to become Poland’s most famous figure.
Wirtualne Media reported on March 6th that the show had been given a renewal and that work on the second season, scheduled for 2025, had already begun. Jakub Rurzałło would return as showrunner.
The show scored well with local critics of the show and on IMDb, it currently sports an 8.0 rating.

1670 Performed Well in Poland But Didn’t Break Out Globally
Why did the show get a renewal? Well, we can dive into the numbers for that. Despite never hitting the global top 10, granular data suggests the show performed exceptionally well in Poland despite never breaking out in other regions.
As Ted Sarandos has repeatedly said, shows are designed to be authentic to the places they originate from, and if they break out from there, then all the better.
The show featured in the top 10s in 24 countries according to FlixPatrol, with most only seeing 1670 pop up for a day or two. The renewal decision likely comes down to its performance in Poland itself. There, we can see the show was consistently in the top 10 for 78 days (around two and a half months), with the title only having just left the Netflix TV top 10s in late February. Typically, with international productions, we see the show stick around for at least 30 days in their home country before a renewal decision comes in.

This is one of two shows that Netflix is currently returning for a second season from Poland. The Green Glove Gang was renewed last year and has already concluded production. Season 2 is set to arrive in the middle of 2024. That release window was announced as part of the Next on Netflix TV slate reveal on February 1st.
