Avatar: The Last Airbender is on the search for someone to play Toph in season 2 of the live-action Netflix series.

In case you missed it, Netflix handed its live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series a dual renewal following the release of season 1 a little earlier this year. That renewal will bring the story to a close with season 3, albeit under the stewardship of new showrunners, with Albert Kim stepping down from the showrunner role with Jabbar Raisani and Christine Boylan taking over those duties from season 2 onwards. At a recent Avatar: The Last Airbender PaleyFest LA panel, Kim said he has complete confidence in passing the reins for the next season.

Since that news, everything has been quiet about the future of Avatar: The Last Airbender until now!

Downtown Casting (Jenny Jue, CSA) is behind an open casting call for season 2 of the show.

For those unaware, Toph Beifong is an earth-bending master who also discovered metal bending and has a visual impairment. She was first introduced in episode 4 of Book Two: Earth of the original Nickelodeon animated series and became an instant fan-favorite.

The notice states they are casting for a “Character is mid-late teens, blind, female, Asian,” encouraging “actors who are blind or low vision are encouraged to submit.”

In addition, they provide the following character description for Toph:

“She is sassy, confident, and unfiltered. For most of her life her strength and formidable earthbending skills have been suppressed, but now on the run as the Avatar’s earthbending master she is uninhibited to become the fierce warrior she believes she is inside. Dance and/or martial arts experience a plus.”
