Monk, the popular 2000s USA Network comedy crime procedural, is set to release on Netflix US, What’s on Netflix has learned.
All eight seasons across 125 episodes will be touching down on Netflix in the United States on February 5th, 2024. The show first aired on USA Network between 2002 and 2009.
Starring Tony Shalhoub, Bitty Schram, Jason Gray-Stanford, and Ted Levine, the series follows Adrian Monk, a former San Fransisco detective who has moved on to consulting a police force as a consultant whilst battling OCD.
The show scooped 8 Primetime Emmys throughout its run and remains a fan-favorite to this day.
Until now, the show has resided on both Peacock and Prime Video, with Peacock commissioning a follow-up movie called Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, which was released on December 8th, 2023.

The news of Monk coming to Netflix comes off the back of Netflix upping its licensing game over the past year. There are multiple reasons for this. Netflix always needs fresh content to keep eyeballs on its service and reduce churn, and other distributors are in need of cash as they look to diversify their balance sheets. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos recently referred to the boom of licensing as “the natural state of the business.”
Netflix notably picked up Suits in the United States in 2023, which also first aired on USA Network and broke Nielsen records throughout the year.
Other big licensed titles headed to Netflix in the US throughout 2024 include over a dozen Disney-owned series, and outside of the United States, we’re seeing shows like Yellowstone, House MD, NCIS, and plenty of other shows being licensed.
It’s currently unclear whether more regions are set to pick up Monk in February 2024 at the time of publishing. We’ll update this post in February should more regions be recipients of all eight seasons.
