The number of non-English titles has grown exponentially in recent years as Netflix continues its expansion into the global market. Standing tall amongst the growing crowd of titles is the Spanish Original Money Heist. With Part 3 of Money Heist confirmed to be on the way, here’s everything you need to know about its upcoming release, including the Netflix release date, plot, cast, and trailer.

Money Heist or La Casa de Papel is an original Spanish Netflix crime-drama series created by Alex Pina. The series started on the Antena 3 channel in Spain but was picked up for worldwide release by Netflix. Alex Pina has since signed on to create shows and movies exclusively for Netflix. Considered the best non-English Original on the streaming service, the series’ popularity boomed thanks to Netflix.

Antena 3 had originally intended Money Heist to be a limited series, but after being picked up by Netflix the series they renewed Money Heist for a third part.

A group of masked thieves enacts a plan to take hostages and lock themselves inside the Royal Mint of Spain. The goal is to steal €2.4 Billion, but first, they have to print the money. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind the group known as ‘The Professor’ is manipulating the Police force of Madrid, ensuring his plans are carried out.

Netflix announced the news the third series was in production in October 2018. Part 3 had wrapped filming back in March 2019.

As of June 2019, the series is now fully complete with Netflix ramping up its promotion.

What to expect from Money Heist Part 3

*SPOILERS FOR PART 2*

The thieves were successful in printing over €1 Billion, but not without the loss of members of the team. Just narrowly able to escape from the Madrid police force, the team and the Professor escaped with their loot, disappearing without a trace. It wasn’t until a year later that Raquel received a postcard with co-ordinates leading her to reunite with the professor.

Speaking to FormulaTV Jesús Colmenar, one of the producers gave us insights into part 3. “The Professor ended up in Palawan, in the Philippines, and I would like to think that he is not a flashy guy and that he lives a normal life there. He took all this money more as a blow to the system than for personal enjoyment,”.

With the amount of money stolen by the team and the professor, there will be an international manhunt for every person involved in the heist.

Assuming not all members of the heist are particularly good at hiding their newfound wealth, it won’t be long before the authorities come knocking, ready to take back all that cash.

When one domino falls, so will the others, so with all the members potentially being hunted by the Spanish authorities, it can be expected that most of the season may become a cat-and-mouse game between the heist team and those who wish to bring them to justice.
