Good news for Miraculous fans! You’re getting another season of the show added to Netflix, plus a 2020 special.
To say the streaming rights for Miraculous are complicated is putting it lightly. Thanks to multiple stakeholders, confusing season counts, and multiple streamers carrying the show and specials in some form, it’s a hard show to keep on top of. That said, we’ve got a couple of Miraculous updates for Netflix, specifically in the United States – availability in other regions may vary.
Miraculous Season 4 (or Season 6 if you’re Netflix) is heading to Netflix in March 2024
Around a week ago, a notification within the Netflix app began stating that season 6 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir would arrive on March 12th.
Of course, season 6 isn’t even out yet, so why is Netflix’s naming convention different? It comes down to how they’ve labeled seasons. While season 1 is full, they’ve split seasons 2 and 3 into two halves (season 2: part 1 and season 2: part 2, for example).
Netflix has since clarified in multiple updates that season 4 will be coming to the service on March 12th. All 26 episodes are expected, and the season will originally air between April 2021 and March 2022.
As you may know, Netflix shares the streaming rights in the US with Disney+, which currently has all five seasons. In January 2023, Mediawan Kids & Family announced that seasons 6 and 7 of the main show had been “acquired” by Disney Branded Television (and Disney+) and included “three one-hour specials.”
Disney+ first began streaming Miraculous back in early 2021.
Miraculous World: New York, United Heroez Heads to Netflix US
Not only will Netflix US get a new season of Miraculous in March 2024, but it’ll also be getting the streaming rights to a 2020 special: Miraculous World: New York, United Heroez.
Here’s the official description for the special:
“Visiting New York City, Ladybug and Cat Noir team up with American superheroes to stop Hawk Moth from stealing an ancient necklace holding untold powers.”
The special’s cast included Cristina Vee, Bryce Papenbrook, and Keith Silverstein. It will be available on Netflix on March 12th alongside season 4.
Will Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie 2 be on Netflix?
Since January, Jeremy Zag has been teasing another main movie entry on his Instagram by releasing a logo (seen below). Naturally, given Netflix carried the first movie exclusively outside of the regions it released theatrically (and performed quite well), you may be wondering if the second movie is headed to Netflix.
At the moment, no streaming plans have been announced for the movie, but given that some of the newer seasons have been sold to Disney+, there is a scenario where the second film might not come to Netflix.
