Messiah is an upcoming Netflix Original thriller series created by Michael Petroni and produced by Lightworkers Media. The Original is one of the most intriguing shows to debut on Netflix in 2020, and it has more than piqued our interest.

The first season of Messiah is scheduled to arrive on January 1st, 2020.

What is the plot of Messiah?
In the middle-east, a man claiming to be the Messiah is amassing a sudden surge of supporters by acts of public disruption. Sent to investigate the ‘Messiah’ is CIA officer, Eva Geller, who goes undercover to determine if the man claiming to be the Messiah as a divine entity or a talented con artist.
The story unfolds from the points of view of multiple narrators, including Eva Geller the CIA officer, an Israeli Shin Bet officer, a Palestinian refugee, and finally, a Latino preacher and his Texan daughter.

What is a Messiah?
In Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), a messiah is seen as a savior or liberator of a group of people. There have been many individuals that have claimed to be messiahs, not to mention some of the most famous figures in religion have been messiahs.
Some examples of ‘messiahs’ throughout history are:

Like Christianity, the religion of Islam also has its own version of the Anti-Christ, the Dajjal. Known as the ‘false messiah’ and ‘the deceiver’, the Dajjal will appear in the East and claim to be Jesus Christ. Through the use of trickery and his dark followers, the Dajjal would be able to perform great miracles such as; raising the dead, healing the sick, and allowing vegetation and livestock to prosper. There are a great many further signs that would supposedly indicate that the false Messiah is upon us.
Finally, it is prophesied that the real Jesus would return to defeat the Dajjal and restore peace to the world.

Filming for Messiah took place between June 2018 and March 2019.

What is the episode count of Messiah?
It has been confirmed that Messiah will release with ten episodes in total.
All ten episodes will be available to stream upon release.
Episode run times?
The run times of each episode can be expected to be around 40 to 50 minutes.
Will Messiah be available to stream in 4K?
Definitely. All fully-fledged Netflix Originals are required to be filmed so that it can be streamed in 4K.

Has Netflix dropped the trailer for Messiah?
Netflix released the trailer for Messiah at the start of December 2019.
Can we expect to see a second season?
Renewal is entirely reliant upon the performance of Messiah with the Netflix subscribers.
It could take months for Netflix to decide the future of the series, but if Messiah gets off to a fantastic start on the streaming service we could expect to see news of renewal even sooner.
