LOVE is coming back to Netflix which shouldn’t necessarily be a surprise as it was a hit for Netflix when season 1 debuted on Netflix in 2016. The Judd Apatow series starred Community’s Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust (who also helped create the show). It’s a quirky comedy that will have plenty of people wanting it back on the screens. So here’s your definitive season 2 preview that we’ll keep updated right up until Season 2 drops.
Season 1 Recap
LOVE is a quirky comedy set in LA and features an odd relationship struck by Mickey (Jacobs) and Gus (Rust). The relationship starts when Gus and Mickey’s previous relationships both hit dead ends, they then meet up several times before becoming a romantic pair. As the season progresses, the romance begins between the pair although their plans don’t always go their way. The series creator said that he wanted the series to be a modern take on how dating is in the 21st century.
Season 1 left us a cross road with Gus’s career looking fairly unpleasant and Mickey pushed to breaking point thanks to her past actions.
Returning Cast for Season 2
The two lead characters will be back with some noticeable additions plus a massive question mark. Let’s start with the additions. In the trailer, we see a familiar face in the form of Rich Sommer most known for his role in Mad Men and to a lesser extent his time on The Office.
A big question mark remains for Claudia O’Doherty who wasn’t featured in the trailer but given how integral she was for the first season the chances of her not returning are pretty slim.
Season 2 Trailer
Along with the release date announcement, Netflix dropped a quick 30-second teaser trailer with some footage of the new season. The teaser reveals a few things. Firstly, it confirms that Gus and Mickey do appear to patch things up although it does seem as they’ll be in an on and off again relationship much like the first season.
It looks as those Mickey will be falling into old habits by getting involved with the wrong people and Gus remains the party animal partying with many younger girls.
We’ll be getting a full trailer likely dropping a month or so before the actual season is scheduled to release.
When will Season 2 of Love be on Netflix?
As we mentioned, the first season of Love came to Netflix in February 2016, but it doesn’t look like it’ll be keeping a yearly schedule. It was confirmed via social media channels from Netflix and the show itself that season 2 will be streaming from March 10th 2017.
As for the specific times, Netflix always releases its original shows at Midnight where their office is. That means West Coast will get it at midnight. East Coast will get it at 3 am, the United Kingdom (GMT) at 8 am and Australia at around 6 pm.
How Many Episodes Will There Be In Season 2?
Netflix will be amping up the series with an additional two episodes for season 2. This could have been the release for the extra month needed before the season releases. Season 2 will premiere with all 12 episodes
Love: Season 3?
At this point, it’s too early to tell whether or not the series will get a third season. Judd Apatow has been pegged for a lot of new movies over the coming years which could put a question mark on his involvement with the show. Previous Netflix Originals seem to point at the series continuing strong although comedy shows often last a lot shorter than normal drama series.
