The release date for Lost in Space season 2 on Netflix may have leaked thanks to a novel based on the series coming up for pre-order. We’ve got all you need to know below.
Lost in Space is the Netflix sci-fi family series which sees the reboot of the classic 60s series of the same name. The first season released on Netflix back in April 2018. Since then, we’ve known bits and pieces about season 2 of Lost in Space but no concrete release date.
The series was always unlikely to keep to an annual schedule given the scale of the project. If these release date of November 2019 is true, that would’ve been roughly a year and six-month wait. That’s a wait we’ve seen for other hit Netflix shows like Mindhunter, Stranger Things and others.
That’s until today when some keen eyes spotted a new novel coming out for the series. It’s not the first accidental release window announced this month either. Just last week, the executive producer let slip before Netflix themselves that Mindhunter season 2 would be coming in August 2019.
The novel which has simply been titled “Novel #1” at present with non-final artwork display. But it’s accompanied by the following description:
“While on a colonization mission in the not too distant future, a crisis maroons the Robinson family on an alien planet where they must band together to survive. This action-packed, middle-grade novel is the first in a series that focuses on 11-year-old Will Robinson and his two older sisters, Judy and Penny.”
Following that it says: “Timed to coincide with the debut of season 2, this novel is based on Netflix’s Lost in Space: a dramatic, modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series.”
Updated (05/20/2019): The description with the release date has since been removed from the Amazon posting. TheHashTagShow reached out to Netflix and got the following response: “the release date of the book is not reflective of the release date for season 2, which has not yet been set, nor announced.”
