Get ready for your next crime obsession. Netflix has released the trailer for Mindhunter, their new sinister series. We have all the details you need to know, including the release date.

Just in time for Halloween, Netflix is bringing us Mindhunter, a detective drama that explores the minds of some of America’s most infamous serial killers. It’s based on the nonfiction book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, by Mark Olshaker and John Douglas.

The Minds Behind The Series

The series is directed by David Fincher, who has already made a number of excellent movies involving serial killers including Seven, Zodiac, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Executive producers include Fincher, Joshua Donen, Charlize Theron and Cean Chaffin.

Fincher first partnered with Netflix as an executive producer for House of Cards. He is no stranger to malevolent crimes.

The Cast

Jonathan Groff plays Holden Ford and Holt McCallany plays Bill Tench, two FBI agents in the serial crime unit on a journey to reach inside the minds of killers.

Additional cast includes (L-R) Anna Torv as Wendy, a psychologist based on Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess, Cotter Smith as Shepard, unit chief of the FBI National Training Academy, and Hannah Gross as Debbie.

The Plot

Groff and McCallany play a pair of FBI agents who are trying to figure out how the minds of sociopathic killers work. They then go from police station to police station to teach their techniques. This was a time when criminal profiling did not exist and the term “serial killer” was just being invented.

Release Date

Season 1 of Mindhunter will have 10 episodes. It debuts in full on October 13, 2017.
