Ibiza, a new comedy movie has just arrived on Netflix and if you’re for a bit more background on the show before watching or looking for everything you need to know after the credits roll this article is for you.

The movie was first conceived back in 2014 but Sony would’ve been the distributor. In June 2017, Netflix announced it had picked up the movie and filming began a few months later in September 2017.
What’s the movie about?
Ibiza is a fairly standard vacation movie where Gillian Jacobs (Community, Love) character is sent on a work vacation to Ibiza but brings along her two party-hard friends. She’s convinced to divert slightly from her original reason for going to Ibiza by hooking up with a famous DJ.
What are the critics saying?
Metacritic at the time of writing holds the movie at a 54 out of 100. One the high end of the scale is IndieWire’s review (75/100) praising the fact that another lady-centric comedy gets the spotlight. On the other end of the spectrum, Vulture has only scored the movie at a 30 out of 100. Vulture’s review concluded that: “Ibiza doesn’t have the strength of wit and character to suffice as a hangout vacation movie, and it has zero idea how to be a romantic comedy, either. ”
On other platforms, Rotten Tomatoes currently holds the movie at a 78% and IMDb users are scoring it at a 4.0 out of 10. It’s a mixed opinion but we’ll update this article should the opinion shift dramatically.

Ibiza has a relatively short cast list but Gillian Jacobs who’s dubbed as the main star is probably outshone by Game of Thrones Richard Madden who played Rob Stark on the show.
Harpers two sidekicks in the movie include Phoebe Robinson who is mostly known for her writing and Vanessa Bayer who up until last year was in Saturday Night Live.

Ibiza (2018) Soundtrack
The soundtrack to Ibiza on Netflix is huge. Obviously with the girl’s destination being Ibiza that immediately brings a certain kind of music with it.

Are you all done with Ibiza and looking for something similar? Well, the obvious go-to choice for a movie like this would be Brides Maids but that movie sadly isn’t streaming on Netflix at the moment.

On Netflix, however, is the Gillian Jacobs series Love which just wrapped up with its third and final season. In the show, Gillian plays someone who’s just gone through a bad breakup and find a new guy. Likewise, if a strong female-led comedy is what you’re after, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt may just be for you too.
Sticking with the EDM scene, Netflix released a movie back in 2016 about two people that have their paths crossed and form a romantic relationship. The movie is called XOXO and stars Sarah Hyland and Chris D’Elia.
