House Of Cards Season 5 Release Date

So Frank and Claire are in deep trouble. What were you expecting? The cliff hanger is that, for the first time, Frank is not the one with the ideas. It’s Claire that seems to have the strategy to cover their tracks.  Through the first four series there have been many hints that Claire was the true evil genius behind the power and now it’s clear.  Meanwhile Doug has reverted to form with his vitriol, his plots and his eye for distressed ladies. Leann has brought little to the party other than eye candy and Remy is causing trouble as usual. And what about the Menage A Trois with Thomas eh! That’s got to end in tears. All of which brings us to the cliffhanger that is Series 5.

Now we could make predictions but we won’t.  It all comes down to whether Frank and Claire are going to get away with it. The US series has departed so far from the UK original that there are no clues there. Since few of the characters are nice people, guessing who’s going to get their come-uppance is the name of the game.

When is Season 5 coming we hear you scream.  Well we reported that it had been announced back in January. This was way before season 4 had started and was an unusually early announcement compared with previous seasons. All the previous seasons have been released yearly around the same time and, if they stick to the historic schedule, we can expect season 5 will be released in February or March 2017. But we have to question the possibility of an earlier release date because of the announcement so early.  Wouldn’t that be great!

House of Cards has so far enjoyed 15 directors and 18 writers. We’ve lost count of the number of credited actors. There have also been 30 producers of different flavours: executive, co, supervising, consulting, associate etc, etc.  The big news however is that the real driving force behind the series, Beau Willimon, has announced that he is moving on.  Quite what the impact of this will be is, naturally, unclear. But it is almost certain that we will see changes for series 5. Since we’re all completely hooked on the series any changes are likely to be interesting rather than for the better or the worse.  We’ll just have to wait and see.

As soon as we know more, you will know more….
