Big changes are coming to the White House. Netflix has released its new teaser for House of Cards.
Last night during the Academy Awards, Netflix aired a teaser for the sixth and final season of House of Cards. Star Robin Wright is in front and ready to take charge.
Claire Underwood is in command, sitting behind the desk her husband once occupied in the Oval Office. With a confident smile, she says, “We’re just getting started.”
Netflix cut ties with former star Kevin Spacey in November 2017, after he was accused of sexual misconduct. The show took a three-month hiatus in the aftermath but has resumed production.
The political thriller was created by Beau Willimon. It is an adaptation of the 1990 BBC miniseries of the same name, based on the novel by Michael Dobbs. It was Netflix’s first big-budget foray into series television and its first big original content success. An immediate hit, it paved the way for original Netflix content as we know it.
Season 6 was already the last planned season, but in light of the situation, the show had to change direction. It is unclear how the show will handle Spacey’s exit, who was very conspicuously missing from the promo.
The final season of House of Cards airs this fall on Netflix.
