Fool Me Once Wont Return For Season At Netflix

Fool Me Once kicks 2024 off with a bang as it hits the charts around the globe, but as you may have figured out by now, the show won’t be returning for a second season.

In case you missed it, Fool Me Once is a new British drama series that features the talents of Michelle Keegan, Adeel Akhtar, and Richard Armitage. It’s about an ex-soldier who finds out that her husband, who is supposed to be dead, is very much alive as she spots him on a nanny cam.

As with all prior Harlan Coben shows on Netflix and a growing number of Netflix scripted dramas – Fool Me Once was designed and will remain a limited series. That means by the time the credits roll on episode eight, you’re all done. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise given that the series adapts the source material in its entirety and wraps up all its storylines by the final episode.

What’s the Good News?

We have several pieces of good news for you to help with the news that there won’t be a second season.

More Harlan Coben and Richard Armitage on Netflix

Let’s begin with something alluded to earlier. Harlan Coben has a LOT of his other books adapted into series and movies both on Netflix and elsewhere. Better yet, more is on the way.

We’ve got a full guide to all the Coben series on Netflix right now, plus what’s next, but if you loved Fool Me Once, we’d recommend starting off with the other British-produced series.

Those are:

  • Safe (Released in 2018)
  • Stranger (Released in 2020)
  • Stay Close (Released in 2021)
Stay Close On Netflix Similar To Fool Me Once

Stay Close is streaming now on Netflix – Picture: Netflix

In the case of Stay Close and Stranger, you’ll also be pleased that Richard Armitage also makes an appearance there. Speaking of Armitage, you can get plenty more of his acting chops in the recently released mini-series Obsession, and he’s also featured in the often-overlooked 2016 movie Brain on Fire, where he stars alongside Thomas Mann and Chloë Grace Moretz.

The other good news is that more Coben adaptations are on the way. The furthest along is believed to be Myron Bolitar, which is the first US-based adaptation. Netflix has also been linked or has the option to adapt Six Years and Run Away, but we haven’t heard anything about the development of those yet.

Elsewhere, if you have a Prime Video subscription, you can also check out the young adult series adaptation of Shelter, which was released in August 2023.

More British Shows on the Way to Netflix

If you love the British aspect of the show – we’ve also got good news. There are a lot of new British shows and movies currently in the works that will be released on Netflix in 2024 and beyond.

Highlights that crossover with Fool Me Once include The Gentlemen, set to arrive in March 2024, Black Doves, and Department Q.

If you’re looking for more recommendations beyond other Harlen Coben titles, Netflix recommends:

  • Bodies – the sci-fi crime limited series that sees four detectives from four different time periods looking into the same murder.
  • You Don’t Know Me – A BBC/Netflix co-production that’s about a man on trial using his closing argument during trial to recount his love affair.
  • Inside Man – Another BBC/Netflix co-production starring David Tennant about a death row prisoner helping a British journalist search for a friend.
