Netflix Panels Nycc

This year has been unusual, affecting all sorts of events, including NYCC. Unfortunately, unlike last year, we were unable to attend NYCC as it was canceled, but the good news is that, just like SDCC, it moved online for 2020. Here is everything Netflix-related that happened throughout the extended weekend.

As mentioned, the in-person events for NYCC were canceled due to COVID-19, disrupting Comic Cons worldwide.

Netflix’s presence at NYCC was quite limited, focusing primarily on its upcoming lineup of animated shows.

NYCC Panels About Netflix Shows

Jurassic World – Camp Cretaceous (Season 2)

The most significant renewal announcement came from Friday’s panel, where we heard from the producers of Netflix’s latest Dreamworks TV series, Jurassic World – Camp Cretaceous, announcing that season 2 was forthcoming.

Hilda (Season 2)

Perhaps the most significant date announcement for Netflix at NYCC was for Hilda, getting a confirmed release month of December 2020. This was the first announcement of its exact release timing.

The panel provided a first look at season 2 and some teases of content outside the Netflix series too. Bella Ramsey, who voices Hilda, and Luke Pearson, the original creator of Hilda, participated in the panel.

Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts (Season 3)

The third and final season of the wonderfully animated series, Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, is set to hit Netflix on October 12th, 2020.

The panel, lasting just under 30 minutes, served as a farewell to the series, revealing that most of the cast were unaware the show would last only three seasons.

The discussion mainly focused on the characters’ development over the three seasons.

Shadow & Bone (Season 1)

While this panel covered the Grishaverse as a whole, Shadow & Bone season 1 was mentioned frequently.

We also heard the opening theme song for the first time. Leigh Bardugo, the writer of the books, and Eric Heisserer, who is adapting The Grishaverse for the upcoming Netflix series, participated.

The full panel is available below, and we’ve embedded the theme music as well.

Seis Manos

Viz and Powerhouse Animation’s Seis Manos debuted on Netflix in October 2019 but has not been renewed for a future season. This panel did not confirm or mention any forthcoming season but looked back at the work that went into season 1. The panel aimed to promote the upcoming Blu-ray release.

Snowpiercer (Season 2)

Snowpiercer, a Netflix Original in most countries outside the United States, had its first glimpse revealed in a 30-minute panel on Thursday, including chats with some of the cast and crew.

For new footage of season 2, skip to 30 minutes and 20 seconds.
