Netflix’s underrated US reality competition series Drink Masters debuted on our screens in October 2022 and has been largely silent since. Thankfully, we’ve learned that the show is returning for a second outing and filming begins very soon.
Hosted by Tone Bell with judges Frankie Solarik and Julie Reiner, the show saw 12 mixologists facing off against each other over the course of 10 episodes. It saw them all crafting unique and imaginative cocktails in the hopes of being awarded a life-changing prize and a prestigious title.
By episode 10 (spoiler alert), the 12 contestants had been whittled down to the final three, with Bronx-born Lauren “LP” Paylor O’Brien ultimately taking home the top prize.
Netflix hasn’t officially announced the renewed series just yet, but a casting call was issued in December 2023 looking for new contestants for the show. Posted on Frankie Solarik’s Instagram, the casting call states the following:
“marblemedia is casting innovative, ambitious, ground-breaking cocktail chefs to compete in season 2 of Drink Masters – the series that challenges the world’s best bartenders in the ultimate mixology showdown.
Applicants must:
- Be able to travel to Canada in March of 2024
- Have a valid passport
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be an expert mixologist at the top of your game
- Be a specialist in technique and taste, with stunning skills in visual artistry”
In the caption of the casting call, Solarik attaches the second season directly to Netflix. The casting call suggests that filming will be getting underway on season 2 next month (March 2024), meaning the show could be ready for your consumption as early as late 2024 or 2025 but another post from Solarik looks that filming is already underway with Bell and Reiner also seen back on set. The caption for that post states:
“Secrets out!!!! Season 2 of DRINK MASTERS on @netflix on the way!!! Can’t wait to get the crew together again!”
Netflix’s roster of other unscripted competition shows returning for new seasons includes Blown Away (season 4 due out in March 2024), The Circle, Rhythm + Flow, Barbecue Showdown, Outlast, and Zombieverse.
