Netflix’s longest-running documentary series is coming back for a new spin-off. Titled Legends, this spin-off will highlight the work and careers of four superstar chefs who are almost certainly household names in most places around the world. The new four-part series drops on Netflix globally on April 28th, 2025.

We’ve known about a Legends spin-off coming for a while now. In September, Netflix had a trio of announcements confirming that a new spin-off titled Noodles would drop in October and the seventh main volume, volume 7, would release in late November.

Chef’s Table is created by David Gelb and is a Boardwalk Pictures production. David Gelb, Andrew Fried, Brian McGinn, and Danny O’Malley are executive producers. Dane Lillegard is a co-executive producer.

Of course, 2025 marks the 10 year anniversary for Chef’s Table to which the production company had the following statement:

“Ten years ago, Chef’s Table set out to tell the deeply personal stories behind the world’s most visionary chefs. We wanted to make a show that celebrates not only food, but people — not about how they cook, but why they cook. We remain fascinated by the journeys, struggles, and passions of talented creatives that put everything on the line to pursue their dreams. Now, a decade later, we are honored to debut one of our most exciting seasons to date — Chef’s Table: Legends.

Jamie Oliver, José Andrés, Alice Waters, and Thomas Keller are legendary figures who have redefined what it means to cook. They are icons that should need no introduction. And yet, we found ourselves alternately surprised and enthralled by the vulnerability, the intimacy, and the previously untold stories that they shared with us.

In turn, their unique stories have pushed us to evolve our style in new directions. Cinematic visuals, original musical compositions, immersive sound, robust story development, and judicious editorial have all been pushed forward by the passionate craftspeople of our crew, many of whom have been with us since the beginning.

It is the privilege of a lifetime to tell these stories, and as Chef’s Table enters its tenth year, we remain as passionate as ever. We hope this season inspires you as much as it has inspired us.

Gratefully,

The Chef’s Table Team”

Who will feature in Chef’s Table: Legends?

Jamie Oliver

From: Clavering, Essex, England

For Brits, Oliver is a household name. The chef trained at Westminster Catering College and was discovered while working at The River Café in London when he appeared in a documentary.

He’s known for promoting simple, accessible cooking using fresh ingredients for the past few decades, appearing on TV shows like The Naked Chef and publishing many cookbooks. In the 2000s, he became an advocate for healthier school meals in the UK (and later globally). He was also behind a chain of restaurants all carrying his name such as Jamie’s Italian.

José Andrés

From: Mieres, Asturias, Spain

The second to feature also comes from Europe but ultimately moved to the US after serving as an apprentice in elBulli under Ferran Adrià in the early ’90s. Andrés is best known for his famous Tapas-style Spanish cuisine, particularly in the U.S. The chef is also known for his humanitarian work with World Central Kitchen, feeding people in crisis zones in addition to owning restaurants like Jaleo, Zaytinya, and Minibar in the U.S.

Alice Waters

From: Chatham, New Jersey, USA

Next, we move to Alice Waters, one of the pioneers behind the farm-to-table movement, which promotes organic, locally sourced, sustainable food. In 1971, she founded the iconic Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkeley, California, and the Edible Schoolyard Project, which focuses on food education in schools.

Thomas Keller

From: Oceanside, California, USA

Finally, we have Thomas Keller, known for being behind fine dining and French-inspired cuisine through his restaurants The French Laundry (Yountville, CA), Per Se (NYC), Bouchon, and others. Keller holds the accolade of being the only American chef to have multiple three-Michelin-starred restaurants at the same time.
