Bojack Horseman Season

Bojack Horseman season 5 is coming to Netflix in 2018, and if you’re looking for the latest news, casting announcements, plot lines, and most importantly, the release date, look no further. We’ve got everything you need to know about the next season of Bojack Horseman.

Casting For Season 5

We’ve always had some fantastic cameos in Bojack Horseman, but the cast has kept any possible additional casting for season 5 under wraps.

We know the big names are returning, such as Will Arnett, who plays the main character. Alison Brie, Amy Sedaris, Aaron Paul, and Paul Tompkins are all scheduled to return.

Bojack Horseman at FYSEE 2018

At the end of May, Netflix held a big panel event called FYSEE. Alison Brie appeared for both GLOW (coming in summer 2018) and Bojack Horseman.

We know Alison spoke about her other voiced character on the show beyond Diane Nguyen. She also voiced Vincent Adultman. She spoke about how she’s mixed up the characters on occasion saying: “When I was doing drunk Diane in an episode, you were like, ‘You’re veering into Vincent Adultman, so that’s a problem.'”

Sadly, Netflix hasn’t released a video of the panel, and no interviews can be found this year. That said, we did find an interview from last year with Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Will Arnett from FYSEE 2017.

Show Development

Season 4 was released on Netflix on September 8th, 2017, but the show was only officially confirmed towards the end of the month.

The messages in the text messages between Bojack and Netflix execs say the following: “Hey Bojack, it’s Netflix… We would have called but we remember how angry you were last time we interrupted your nap… Anyway, big news!… You’re back for a Season 5! S0 keep up the good work and see you on set soon!”

We don’t have a full show development schedule for Bojack Horseman, but the nature of animated shows is that most of them are wrapped up early in the cycle. Will Arnett revealed on Twitter that the first table read for season 5 happened on September 11th, 2017.

In terms of full coverage, we’re expecting season 5 to have the doors blown open in August, much like last year. We got a trailer and extended press coverage back in August.

How Many Episodes in Season 5?

We’re expecting season 5 to follow the trend of the previous four seasons and release 12 episodes.

Season 5 Release Date

The release date schedule for Bojack Horseman was fairly consistent until last year. Seasons 1 through 3 had always been a staple of Netflix’s summer lineup. Season 4, however, launched a bit later, in September 2017.

Official Release Date For Season 5: Friday, September 14th, 2018

Other Bojack News

  • Bojack Horseman is being shopped to other networks! Don’t worry—it’s not leaving Netflix. Instead, it’s being shopped to cable companies in the hope of them re-running the show.
  • The team behind Bojack Horseman is producing another show, but sadly, Netflix didn’t pick this one up. The new show is called Undone and is heading to Amazon.

What To Watch In The Meantime…

Netflix is a little short on animated shows this year, thanks to FOX removing most of its content from the service. However, there are still plenty of other shows from Netflix to watch in the meantime.

If you’re looking for shows from some cast members, Alison Brie’s GLOW is a great show getting its second season in 2018. Aaron Paul did have a show on Hulu, but that has since been canceled. You can still watch Aaron in Breaking Bad, though. Will Arnett just appeared in Netflix’s Arrested Development season 6.

Also, if you haven’t already checked out the two specials for Bojack Horseman, you should add them to your list. The 2014 Christmas special is still available, and the 50-minute throwback episode, which supposedly aired in 1984, is also available.
