Big Mouth Season Preview

Big Mouth – Netflix

Big Mouth is arguably Netflix’s biggest animated sitcom to date even surpassing the likes of Bojack Horseman and F is For Family and if you’re looking for the low-down on season 3, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s an ongoing preview of Big Mouth season 3 coming to Netflix in October 2019.

The crude and beloved animated sitcom has become an instant fan-favorite with two seasons and a special now under its belt. The series was given a swift season 3 renewal shortly after its season 2 Netflix premiere.

Now let’s take a look at everything we know about Big Mouth season 3!

Who’s returning to voice in season 3 of Big Mouth?

Thanks to some IMDb updates and some tweets, we’re able to confirm most of the main cast is returning although it shouldn’t come as much surprise.

Here’s the list of returning voice artists so far:

  • Nick Kroll as Nick
  • John Mulaney as Andrew
  • Jessi Klein as Jessi
  • Fred Armisen as Elliot
  • Maya Rudolph as Diane and Connie
  • Jenny Slate as Missy
  • Jordan Peele as Ghost of Duke Ellington

Nick Kroll continues to have the record on the show for the most characters done by one person with it currently sitting at 25.

No doubt there’ll be some more guest voices featured. Zachary Quinto snuck into the “My Furry Valentine” episode for example and voiced Aiden.

Where is the show in production?

Production status: Promotion (last updated: September 2019)

Back in February 2019, it was revealed that the team was deep into production on season 3 prepping for its fall release date.

Andrew Goldberg, who serves as the co-creator and executive producer on the show said:

“We do some rewriting at the art and animation phase, but the show is mostly pretty set. We’re still fixing things that don’t quite work or changing things that don’t quite look right, but we’re into it. When we first started, we were constantly worrying about whether we would have enough stories to tell. But so far, rather than scraping for ideas, we’re finding that we can’t do everything we want to do in a season. Some things we have to save for a season 4 for beyond.”

How will the Valentine’s Day special affect season 3?

If you’re not already aware, Netflix released a Valentine’s Day special for Big Mouth earlier in 2019 in February.

When we first got wind of the special, Netflix was advertising it as the full season 3 release but was quickly corrected.

The Valentine’s special, according to Andrew Goldberg, is “the beginning of season 3”. It also transpires that the special was also not originally part of the plan and therefore production was super tight. Andrew asks you to send your praise of the Valentine’s Special over to Anthony Lioi and Nate Funaro who made it possible.

The episode does stand-alone in most regards but there are a few story plots which could carry over which we’ll touch on below.

What to expect from season 3 of Big Mouth

Beyond the usual shenanigans of what we’ve come to expect from Big Mouth, there are a few questions that need to be answered going forward.

In the special, Nick is going through more body changes that most with him teaming up with Connie for his benefit. However, he starts to grow breasts by the end of the episode and becomes more emotional. Surely, he’ll be getting rid of Connie by the end of season 3.

Connie And Jessi Big Mouth

In a recent interview, Mark Rivers who is behind some of the shows iconic songs teased season 3 earlier in June 2019. Revealing a new song led by the Hormone Monster he said:

It’s pretty funny, and it’s a rocker, as you might guess. It’s an ‘80s metal song called “Anything Goes In Florida.” There’s an episode that is set in Florida, and all kinds of crazy sh*t happens—because it’s Florida. So, Maury sings about it, and his voice sounds a bit like Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead. There are a handful of other songs I’m pretty excited about. Martin Short has a guest appearance in Season 3, and he sings a patter song about the spectrum of sexuality, which came out really great. Because he’s Martin Short; of course it did.

How many episodes will be in Big Mouth season 3?

Much like the seasons that came before it, season 3 of Big Mouth is set to consist of 10 brand new episodes.

When will Big Mouth season 3 release on Netflix?

After a long summer, Big Mouth was given its season 3 release date in late August 2019.

Up until August we had only been given a rough window with Netflix only stating at “New Episodes Coming This Fall”.

Big Mouth Season Release Date Fall

The official release date for season 4 of Big Mouth on Netflix is October 4th, 2019.

Don’t forget that Bojack Horseman is still to come this year as is the next entry for Disenchantment confirmed for a September release.
