The Swedish heist drama is coming back for a second round. Today, Netflix confirmed that Barracuda Queens has been given a season 2 order, with it set to arrive sometime in 2025.

Six episodes of the drama landed on Netflix in June 2023, which followed a group of four upper-class teenagers who began a reign of terror by burglarizing homes in Djursholm.

The announcement came alongside confirmation that we’ll see the return of the following cast members: Alva Bratt, Tea Stjärne, Sarah Gustafsson, Tindra Monsen, Sandra Zubovic, Izabella Scorupco, Cecilia Frode, Filip Berg, and Joel Spira.

The announcement also came alongside a picture of the clapperboard for the second season, seemingly confirming that it’s in production. Amanda Adolfsson is listed as the director for the filmed episode and will also be directing all other episodes.

Asp & Varhos are producing (Frida Asp & Fatima Varhos).

What to Expect from Barracuda Queens Season 2?

Netflix has provided the following summary for the future of Barracuda Queens:

“It’s 2000. Lollo is back in Stockholm after her studies in Paris. The rest of the girls have been quite bored, adapting to a normal lifestyle. They all still live at home, but Lollo’s return quickly has them consider moving out. But how will they find the money to make it happen? They’ve also promised Lollo’s mother Margareta not to do more robberies. Maybe there are other ways? After all, the girls are professionals and they have really missed that thrill. They know that there is a lot of money in the art world and for Barracuda Queens nothing seems impossible..”

How well did Barracuda Queens perform on Netflix?

The show didn’t feature in the global top 10s at all following its release, which often is a bad sign for a show, but in this case, it doesn’t present the full picture.

Per FlixPatrol, the show didn’t manage to feature in most countries around the globe, but it performed well in its intended regions, particularly Sweden and Norway. In Sweden, the show was in the top 10s for 71 days in total, and in Norway, it was there for 41 days.

As we’ve noted numerous times before, we typically find that local productions have to feature in the top 10s for around 30 days following their release to get a shot at renewal.
