Released in early 2015 on Canal+ in France, Netflix would go on to license the crime drama series in many regions, and in some, it would even label the title as a Netflix Original title. However, its time on Netflix is soon ending as the license comes up for renewal.

Starring Marc-André Grondin, Denis Ménochet, Miranda Raison, Brendan Coyle, and Tanya Fear, the 10-episode series follows a crime scene cleaning service and its owner who is forced into business with a powerful mob boss thanks to his irresponsible older brother.

If you haven’t checked out this series yet, I’d recommend giving it a watch despite the fact that it never got a second season. It holds a 100% RottenTomatoes rating and equally high audience scores on that site and IMDb.

Heidi Patalano for TheWrap, following the show’s debut on Netflix, said, “The show has the potential to become an export as beloved as shows like Wallander and The Fall – too smart for the mainstream and pleasing for those of us who consider ourselves above watching Bones.”

Netflix picked up the show in 2016, with most regions receiving it in either May or July and the US in October. Now, eight years later, the show is leaving the streamer.

Spotless will leave Netflix in Canada in May 2024

First up to lose Spotless will be Netflix in Canada. As a notice on the Netflix UI for the show now confirms, the series is scheduled to leave the streamer on May 10th, 2024, with your last day to watch being May 9th.

We’ve embedded a picture of that removal date from Netflix below:

When will Spotless leave Netflix in other regions?

According to Unogs, Spotless currently streams on Netflix in at least 15 countries, and viewers will see the show live throughout 2024. This applies to regions where the show is a Netflix Original, too. As we’ve covered plenty of times before, Netflix Originals are not immune to removal. Often, however, we see the most high-profile titles renewed, but we suspect that won’t be the case for Spotless.

For the most part, the show will be removed from Netflix across the world in the summer of 2024, coinciding with its initial release and the US will be the last to see it removed towards the end of the year:

  • Netflix in the United Kingdom (who lists the show as a Netflix Original) will lose the show on July 1st, 2024
  • Netflix in Asian territories such as South Korea will also lose the show on July 1st
  • Likewise, Netflix Brazil and other Latin American countries will see the show depart on July 1st, 2024. The show is not labeled a Netflix Original in these territories
  • Finally, Netflix in the United States will lose Spotless on October 15th, 2024. It wasn’t a Netflix Original here because Esquire Network notably aired the show.
